My New Pocket Sheath

I bought a Bark River Mikro Canadian and have carried it in my front pocket every day since I received it. The only issue is that depending on the pants I am wearing, it wants to twist and can end up sideways in my pocket. I am hoping that the width of the sheath will keep this from happening.

Knives Ship Free sells a very cool pocket sheath for smaller knives. I knew it was a good idea when I first saw it. Except that I am an amateur leather bender, and have LOTS of leather sitting around at home. So, I had to try my hand at one.

Here is the sheath.

That is a Fisher Space pen in there. I love those things. The only sticking point is holding on to them and not loosing it!! This is not my first one.....because of it becoming misplaced. Another reason I thought the sheath would be a good idea. (Of course, it is not my idea.....it was copied from the sheath Derrick at Knives Ship Free has for sale).

I took this view so you can see the thickness.

In the middle I made the welt the entire size of the sheath. Then, cut it out exactly around the knife profile, and opened it up in the pen area. It resulted in both the pen and knife fitting very nice and secure.

Also, since this was going in my pocket, I wasn't that picky about the piece of leather I chose. So, it is not the prettiest piece of leather. Only that it was the thickness that I wanted. For the same reason, I didn't dye it either.

Nice find. I sometimes carry small FBs in my pocket, for a while I carried a TOPS Wolf Pup in the kydex sheath with the metal clip and backing removed (never understood that sheath design).

There is a reason I am doing leather work this weekend......wonder what that is ;)

If this is the prequel, I am a very lucky man indeed.
I certainly wouldn't mind you showing what you have going on for me as well. Nobody here is going to complain about seeing more knife and craft work, especially when it looks that good.;)

Yours is turning out SWEET! Right now, glue is drying. I will finish it up tomorrow and snaps some pics for you.

I'm jealous:grumpy: You did a great job with that, dare I say, better than store bought. I made one for my Gossman PSK a few weeks ago, lacks the quality of yours, but does the job. BSA fire steel and PSK=good to go:)

Hey Mike: Here you go........

The dye came out darker than I would have liked and that it normally would. I believe because I was towards the end of the bottle on this particular color.

Freakin' Sweet my friend! I would like to see this posted over in the Koster forum as well.
I really, really like the color. I am about as excited about the sheath as getting the Nessie back!
Thank You!:thumbup::thumbup:

Are you kidding? Yours is AWESOME! I was thinking of buying a PSK and beg you to make one of these for me after tax season!

I carry my Mini Canadian in the pocket sheath made for the Russell Woodswalker. I wish it had a spot to carry a small pen or firesteel or something like yours though.
