Just got a BM14210 (Thanks for a great knife Chuck!!!!), it's their H & K line and I must say, it impressed the hell out of me!!!

It's my first Axis folder and the action is just jaw dropping SMOOTH.... I thought opening the D'Allara was smooth, but compared to this, it feels like a rusty hinge...(not running down the spydie, mind you, I really like the spydie but its just not in the same league as the Axis) The opening and closing action is just like a gliding motion, no resistance whatsoever.

The size is just nice for EDC in an office environment. Handle disappears completely in your hands when you use it, so only the blade is seen. If used discretely in the office, it's not likely to draw too much attention.

Knife has a very clean, crisp and sharp look to it. Utilises an open back design and grippy G-10 material that adds to the overall appeal of the knife. My previous EDC was a S30V Native. The moment I saw and held the BM, the Native dropped completely off the radar. (damn, spydie nuts must think I'm on a spydie bashing mission... hey, if I was, I wouldn't have bought 2 spydies in the first place...:D and ahead of any benchmades....)

Managed to get the 154cm blade wickedly sharp. I was testing the edge of the blade by running my thumb repeatedly across it and after a while, the scraps of skin that were scrapped off started collecting on the edge, I was using my thumb and forefinger to clean it off the blade lengthwise and before I knew it, the belly of the blade had already drawn first blood on my thumb. Damn sharp I tell you!!

F & F on the knife is a 10. Liners and handle blend seamlessly into each other. In fact I read some comment by STR somewhere that the H & K line of folders were manufactured to very very strict tolerances and holding one, I must say that it is definitely true.

Blade is perfectly centered when closed and locks like a vault when opened. No blade play whatsoever, not even the tinniest wiggle or give at all. Inspires confidence when using.

Its a joy to look at, hold and use. What more could I ask for from a production folder. If anyone is looking for a new EDC that is not too big, you can't go too far wrong with the BM14210. Absolute joy to own and use...

mmmm... now to look for its bigger brother, the BM14200....

Anyone else wants to chime in on the love for this great little knife???

never had the opportunity to handle this knife, want to but where I live the are no stores with 150 miles. Is the handle very thick? The was my only concern with it being an edc. I have a mini manix right now, but am always looking at getting more. Did you get the PE, Tanto or combo? I really like the look of the PE Tanto.

Way too big for an EDC carry but, it's just my opinion. It looks like a good knife though but, just not for me.

Congrats on your new preciousssssssssss!! I am glad that you LOVE your new knife!!

The handle is not very thick, but it gives a secure grip, I'm able to slip it into my front "pocket watch" pocket (the one where the opening of the pocket is flush against the waitband of the pants) of my business pants with no problem and it doesn't show.

I got the PE one.

Am not sure we are talking about the same knife cos I believe its available only in a modified recurve blade shape. Haven't seen any tanto one... I could be wrong..:)

It is 3.85" closed with a blade under 3". It is the same size as a mini-grip. To me this is the perfect size for an EDC.

What size knife do you EDC?

I feel the same way...I just recently got the BM 710... It is my favorite now along with the Spyderco CF BG-42 Millie.
The axis lock is soooo fun!

I love my 14210!
The problem is it fights with my 707D2, and 960 Silver and others for pocket time. However between the 14210 and the 707 they get the lion's share.
This weekend I carried the 14210 almost exclusively, and it cut open various packaging of gifts my sister recieved (baby shower) then was used in food prep for a party (cutting bread, pepperoni, cheese, celery etc), then the next day used to break down cardboard shipping boxes that tires for my friend's car came in.
After all that it was still able to shave arm hair, but did lose 'scary sharp' status. That is good enough for me!
I can take a picture comparing the thickness of a 556 mini grip and the 14210 tonight if you like....

That would be nice.. I was always wondering about the Grips.. mini, full size.. in fact the Grips were one of the first BM that I came across...

The 14210 is a truly fantastic little pocket EDC... just used mine today to go through 3 oranges and 2 pears.. not much of a challenge really... I pity the fruits... :D

Thanks for the input guys. I'm on the verge of getting one of these knives. I briefly handled on before Christmas and I was quite impressed. As a teacher I have to try to keep my knife footprint small. In mid-TN, not that small though. I carry a 707 and PT so this one will be a nice "dress" knife. I also have a mini-grip, but use it for hiking duty. Thanks for the size comparisons! Pictures would be cool also. Heh.

I do want to get one of these soon. As to size I have been edc'ing a Mod Mark I so after that everything seems small.

I think the 14210 is Benchmade's best small axis lock knife. I unfortunately traded mine away & haven't been able to find another one yet (At a good price, of course). Going up in size, I would have to say the 913 D2 (Which is an A/O), & then the 710 D2 (Which is an axis lock) are my favorites of the Benchmades.

Got the blade last night. I gotta say this thing is FRIGGING nice (do it in your best Dr. Evil voice)! Super smooth action! Blade is shaving sharp! I can't wait to cut something. I haven't had a chance to carry it in my pocket yet (snow day today). I'm going to hate scratching the blade up it is so nice.

My ONLY niggle is there seems to be a little scraping on the last 1/10th of the closing motion. I think it needs a little grease. Opening, it is perfect, closing is the only time I feel the grinding/scraping. I love the knife!!
