my new running partner

Photo, please.

Of the Knife, the girlfriend, or the dog? Assuming you meant the knife, it's not an uncommon knife. An earlier post mentioned it too. Probably better known as the M390 Blue g10 Paramilitary 2 :D

Squints,

Did not know about the cool name.

(And, yes, a photo of all three would definitely class up this thread.):)

I usually carry my machete on runs, it has more reach.

Good idea, I think I'll start carrying my Condor 14" Golok as a horizontal s-o-b carry. Might stick out at the sides a bit, but hey, maybe it'll intimidate all those pit bulls enough to leave me alone.

...ya I know, I didn't think so at first, but running in the morning with the sun not yet up, never know what might get caught on the shoe threads (annoying pebble, branch, etc.)- just gotta have a knife to pick it out. And for those long runs- for two to three hours, need something sharp to slice open the gel packs, heaven forbid I have to use my teeth or fingers for that- best to conserve energy, use a more efficient tool...

...yup, more pics in general would be nice...

who needs a knife when u can run with scissors lol. when i used to run outside i clipped a delica in my runner shorts. however a while back i just went out and bought a threadmill.

lol...that's a quick fix. I just love the ocean breeze and open sky too much. Well, ran with the skyline today with pocket-less shorts (knife out and clip in touching bare skin)- felt a bit annoying after a while, could see where chaffing could be a problem. Will have to find another way to clip it on or somewhere else.

As I write this, think I may have found a way; clip-on wallet. Done.

I have always had the knife on the inside of my shorts against bare skin and clip on the outside. I have the knife positioned behind my right hip. It has never bothered me and even gone through the wash a couple of times because I forgot about it. This is also the same location I always carry my EDC folder.

Behind right hip is an option, will have to see how much movement/friction that creates. Ya, that clip left it's affectionate mark on the top of my right hip. So not going to try clip inside again.

Interesting way to carry an edc, not your typical loaded pockets.

At my age I'm lucky I can still do a walk every morning with my better half of 41 years. I just carry my normal edc pocket knife but in my hand is a very stout blackthorn stick. :D

When I'm out for walks with my wife I bring along my usual EDC and a keychain-sized pepper spray. It doesn't cut worth a darn but would make a great self defense option for a runner; good for fending off dangerous dogs or people. It's light and nicely rounded so it'd be comfortable in sweats or shorts. Pepper spray can also be easily looped onto some paracord and carried around your neck.

If I specifically wanted a knife for potential cutting tasks while out running, I'd definitely grab a Delica. Perfect size, weight and profile.

Unfortunately on longer runs round objects are more easily felt that flat objects with clips, they can get pretty darn annoying to have bouncing around in your pocket. Neck carry of anything presents the same problem. Its like chinese water torture. :(

After eight miles I'd be more likely to throw the bottle at a trash can than keep it with me. Might just be me though, I even get annoyed with the cord of my ear buds bouncing around :(

Daily dog walks/jogs, often in a slightly wooded area...
Always have a clip-free ultralight folder for pocket carry (Spyderco Dragonfly II or BM MiniGrip)
Usually a fixed blade as well, often neck carry (BK-11 or Fiddleback Karda,) occasionally belt carry(Bark River Fox River.)

Good old PM2 in my waistband strong side. Just be sure to make the pivot a tad tighter.

There are several small canisters that would fit great in a number of MP3/cellphone armbands as well. Could be a decent alternative.
