I had a WONDERFUL experience with Darrel. I never imagined such service...and what a turn around time!!! He WILL stand behind his knives 110% When you buy one of his knives, you are also getting an AWESOME warrenty, service, and 1st. rate attention from an awesome maker. IMO, my Apogee cost me about $75, and the package that came with it cost me $300.

...at that price, I think I got a bargin.

THAT, my friend, is what buying genuine, hand made custom knives is all about. It's why us "custom guys" so rarely look back into production pieces, and why we sniff at knives where that interaction is lacking. Once you've experienced the "personal touch", knives without it seem soul-less.

Nice, nice to hear the affirmation of what we put our money and faith into. Thanks for the update Jackyl!

Hooah! I just found out this afternoon that my custom medium lefty Apogee is on its way as well. Should have it by tomorrow. Guess we can compare notes, huh, Jackyl? Can't wait!!! Darrel's outstanding!!!

Darrel Ralph is the greatest(along with Kit, Allen E., Jerry Fisk, Don Fogg, Rob Simonich)
they represent the highest standards as makers and gentlemen. I have had a similar experience as Jackyl & should be getting my Extreme Apogee back any day now - absolutely incredible service - THANKS DARREL!!! - and I feel I have made a friend and I value that as much as the knife. I also ordered a 5" Scorpion from Darrel with Carbon Fiber handles - am looking forward to that one - really like big knives.

Jackyl, I have a knife you might like: Elishewitz Phantom - all-black - black anodized Ti handle with black anodized Ti scales, front ones bead blasted & back ones satin-finished - blade is black TiAlN coated.
Supposedly Allen only made a few of these - they are nice & very different.

Man, that sounds AWESOME!!! ...but I don't go for ccoated blades, not that I'd ever use that puppy.

I have my eye on another Striker with cf scales and polished Ti. bolsters. -AR

Thanks anyway, it sounds COOL!!!

This just confirms what Darrel told me at the NYC Custom Show. I'm glad everything worked out fine. The personal attention one gets with custom makers is definitely a bonus...I would just like to mention that I have experienced similar service from Spyderco too.
