My new storage system -- Pelican case -- nothing new but wow!

I dunno I feel like this case could get stolen and everything is gone in one fail swoop

People seem to focus on that, but it isn't much easier than stealing a plastic bin of knives still in their cardboard boxes. If anything the ability to lock the Pelican case closed, as well as lock it to something heavy/structural, makes it more secure. If someone is in a position to steal my knives in my Pelican case, then they would also be in a position to steal them the way they were stored, and there would be no padlocks in their way.

It's "feel swoop" but fair enough :P it would be quite a fail
It's "fell swoop".

Hm... that seems risky

Very organized but "Putting all your eggs in one basket", so to speak. Pelican cases are nice but they also scream, "Valuables!!, Please steal me!!", and you can't lock plastic or chain it to anything, 30 seconds with a hacksaw and the handle is toast. The chances of being burglarized are probably very small though.

Silica gel packets are a great idea. I'm going to order some tonight and that'll keep my mind at ease.

Yes it's true this system isn't necessarily providing security from theft any more than the spyderpacs were. I depend on where I actually store the case itself to provide security from theft just like I did with the spyderpacs. I don't feel the need to scatter my collection around my house as a security precaution.

I don't mean to denigrate Pelican cases but they strike me as overkill for folder storage...not to mention that they're extremely expensive and somewhat inaccessible. I hang my Spyderpacs on my wall where I can easily see and choose whichever folder I want with no fuss whatsoever. I even use them to store small fixed blades. If I run out of room a new Spyderpac only costs about 30 dollars,

When you compare how much they cost and what you put in them, the bombproof quality pelicans are generally worth the price of admission. Is it really that bad to pay $200 to store $2000 in it?

But I agree with you, I like to throw my knives on the wall and can admire them when I'm in the room instead of putting them in a box, never to be seen by anyone else. I can't tell you how many people notice the Winkler Camp Axe hanging on my wall then pick it up and play with it. How can I show off my collection if they just see a black box shoved in my closet?

Yea I would love to be able to put them on display. That's my eventual goal but it's just not a possibility right now.
