My New Survival Food Discovery

My experience with these simply as a side dish is that they're great, but can be very salt heavy. A little salt can be a very good thing in some situations, but if water is scarce, a lot can be a bad thing.

Edited: on the other hand, don't take my word for it. Cook one up and eat it and see if it is or isn't too salty for you.

The one's with all the flavoring (spanish rice, mexican rice, cajun, etc) might have the excess salt. The only ones that I have eaten so far were the brown rice packets which I didn't have in the pics. They justed tasted like regular brown rice. We'll see what these others are like.

My Father said the main things that he add's to his noodles are TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein), Brady Street Cheese Sprinkle (Penzy spice), a can of mixed vegetiables (or dehydrated), and then some type of meat.

Heh, ends up not being so cheap it seems, but seems much more healthy.

I have talked about this before but I make my own dehydrated meat and vegetable mixture to add to my noodles or rice. Buy a dehydrator and you won't be sorry. Chris

I am seeing some posts about the dehydrated stuff which I think is great and I have a lot stored up. I thought these might be advantageous in certain situations where you lack potable or any water. As for me, I'll still have both.

How about a step by step on how you dehydrate your meat? And the shelf life on it also.
