I recently purchased a Fallkniven A1, and couldn't be happier because this knife is everything people have said about it. This is my first post on this forum and I would appreciate any info about this great blade from those that have used it. Thanks.

Excellent. Post some pictures if you can. I've been considering getting one myself.

Welcome. Fallkniven makes great knives. If you are going to use it in the field get one of their D4 sharpening stones and learn how to keep the edge sharp.

Welcome and congrats. Fallkniven makes excellent knives.

You do appear to be currently alive, so it appears to be working. Hopefully you get a chance to use it for what it was designed for - outdoor recreation like camping. Then you will really see what it can do!

Converge, I'm sure my pics wouldn't be as good as or better than the plethora of images that can already be found on the interweb machine.

Great suggestion. I use a DC-4 on my F1.

OP , Welcome. I use the smaller F1 as my outdoors knife when I decide to carry a fixed blade. Still going strong after ~7 years. Great choice and enjoy your new knife.

If it's your survival knife, you have to keep it with you always. Those rare few finding themselves in survival situations didn't choose to be in that situation and didn't pick the time and place to be in such a situation.

My survival knife will likely be a SAK (Victorinox Farmer) and a small peanut (Ulster 180/Craftsman 9507) because those are the knives I carry day-in and day-out day after day so will most likely be the knives I have should I ever, regardless of remote the chances might be, find myself in a survival situation.

Thanks Mike, the Fallkniven D4 sharpening stone will definitely be one of my next purchases along with maybe it's companion leather pouch. I ordered my A1 with the leather sheath, pretty much for display purposes and for around my home property. I've been looking at the Apocalypse Gear kydex sheath as a top-end solution for hunting and camping.

FA1BladeGuy,

Welcome to Bladeforums
I am sure you will enjoy your time here

Since you are new here, you might not be aware of the Outdoor Gear, Survival Equipment & More forum here

The folk some are heavy users of the Fallkniven A1, so you will get a more in depth response
You might want to ask the moderators to transfer this thread there
neeman, thanks for the support and your forum suggestion, I'll look into it. Right now I'm kinda preoccupied with a 4 day old baby girl who seems to want a great deal of attention. Who knew?

Pictures or it didn't happen.

I feel you TrojanSteel. Still trying to figure out how I can upload pics from my iPhone. Maybe I can't because I'm a new member who needs moderator approval, or I'll just have to go to my MacBook Pro when I get a chance.

You should download Tapatalk, it'll streamline your phone-forum experience. And you can upload pictures with it.

It's a good one. My nephew has an S1 I bought him years ago and has used it for all outdoors stuff including hiking, hunting, defense, and a few other hairy situations. I have to sharpen it for him because he hasn't figured that part out yet - I use a piece of leather and black/green compounds.

TrojanSteel, I just looked at my "Posting Permissions", and I am not allowed to post attachments, or to "like" a post either yet. As soon as I'm able I'll get those pics up of my new knife. I'm assuming moderator permission is governed by your the number of posts of a new member.

I think pictures always make threads better.

I've been eyeing an A1 and a G1 forever myself, but can't pull the trigger.

I have a WM1 and it is great, but they just look too dull and boring for me (for that price). In my oppinion, an awesome 10/10 knife stops being so awesome when the price starts to be outrageous.

I also have some other great knives now, like the CRK Pacific, that is an acceptable substitute, and I can't really justify buying another user (knowing Fallknivens have little appeal to me as safe queens).

I can get one for 176€ , would you A1 owners say it is a good deal?
