Just thought I'd share the goodness with my fellow sword lovers. Get this in a deal here on the forums. It's the Dan Keffeler Super Assassin. I have to say it's an amazing cutter and an imposing sword. Everyone that has laid eyes on it have this instant look of awe mixed with fear lol. It's an impressive piece to be sure. Titanium Tsuba, Fuchi, an Kashira anodized with sort of an iridescent purple/blue/gray color with gold stripes. Green camo utility cord wrap over TeroTuff handle. Keffeler used a technique of covering the handle in several coats of shellac, then wrapping it with cord, the soaking it in denatured alcohol to temporarily soften the shellac and allow it to adhere to the cord. Sort of a way of gluing the cord to the handle AFTER it has been wrapped. From what I understand it's not his technique but nifty nonetheless. It's full tang. Beautiful mokume seppa. Coffin shaped fittings and tsuka. the Handle shape is very comfortable in the hand. Don't know why more blade makers haven't caught on to this. I think Keffeler referred to this as a Shinogi Zukuri Grind. Such a striking piece and it cuts like a demon.

.25" 3V steel, hrc of 60-61
31" oal.
19.5" cutting edge.
22" blade.

Wow, I LOVE that blade. It's gorgeous. Dan's a real class act too. Looks like it's got fantastic geometry as well.

I've been meaning to ask you about that since I saw it as your profile pic.
It's frickin' AMAZING LOOKING!!!
Looks like a vicious chopper!!
Congrats man!!

DIBS!!!! :D

That sword bites deeper than anything I have yet seen!!!! What kind of grind was used on the blade, and is that softwood or hardwood being cut?

I dream of one day owning a Dan Keffler sword. I got to cut with a katana he did; it was amazing and incredibly tough. Congrats.

that might be the only blade that i'd ever trade my Busse AK47 for... i am in love

Can you tell me how it handles? Is it as lively as a Ko Katana type blade?

You can already tell from the geometry that it's going to be a great cutter. Look at the way he angled the handle and the blade. Many swords (many of my own, for that matter), run straight up from the hilt to the blade, and don't take on that natural cutting curve. This piece doesn't make that mistake. I love the grind in the rear of the blade. If Dan doesn't mind, I might give that a try instead of fullering on my next katana-like object. I would be curious to learn more about the grind and balance point. My guess is that it's around 2-3" up from the guard, depending on how much distal taper Dan put into that piece.

What a phenomenal acquirement.

I've been wanting to get a sword from him ever since I seen his first video. They're a little out of my comfortable price range though.

Enjoy it

When that one came up for sale, I had the "I need that" shakes. But even if I sold all my nice knives it would not have covered if.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Pretty sure they said the second tree was a maple. I might be able to identify the first one by the leaves... I'll have to look back. It's really kind of a high saber grind. But the spine is relieved some with the tip being reinforced. It's got grinds all over it. Looks like something the Predator would carry. Especially with the futuristic titanium fittings.

Having had a few Busse swords I can tell you they cut nothing like this beast. Not to dis Busse or anything. I still want an AK47... I think an AK47's edge could take more of a beating than this maybe as it has a thinner edge than a Busse. But this monster is a crazy cutter. Two different animals I guess. I haven't really had enough time to develop an opinion on it's handling. I need to play with it a little but I'll report back once I do.

I'll report back on the handling. I'll also take some pics of the various grinds and post back.

It left quite a crater in my well being to get it. I did offer him a Kidney... glad he wasn't interested LOL.

wow, this is now in my "wish" list... now all i need is wait until i can afford it.

just wow

Ok so I snapped some pics of the grinds and with other tools for comparison. I'll add some comments later but I'm kinda in a hurry at the moment.
