My new (to me) sword.

Thanks for the additional pics Infi-del...
I was awed by the Super Assassin as well when it was posted for sale, while considering whether to hit or not, it was taken by you.
So what's left is to go directly to Dan and I hope he opens his book soon ...

Good luck to you in getting your futuristic sheath/scabbard, remember to post pics again. Thanks.

Well I've had time to get to know this beast and it just doesn't stop impressing me. I had to learn how to "Aim" the edge. But the coffin shaped handle actually gives you amazing control over the blade. At first it wasn't cutting as deep as I had hoped and was sometimes bouncing off of the targets. Don't get me wrong... it was still a cutting machine, but I wasn't getting that "Oh my God!" type of bite. But I soon learned the limiting factor was ME. Once I became comfortable with the sword and how it handled it began destroying everything in its path. I've never known a blade that performs like this. I've handled very nice, high end, blades and this thing just continues to surprise me. Have you ever had a blade that does things that make you say "I didn't think that was possible."? This is one of those blades. And it's just SO damn solid. It's the greatest thing I've ever known. And at around 3.5lbs it's very controlable. I want to reply to some of my own initial impressions.

I think an AK47's edge could take more of a beating than this maybe as it has a thinner edge than a Busse. But this monster is a crazy cutter. Two different animals I guess. I haven't really had enough time to develop an opinion on it's handling. I need to play with it a little but I'll report back once I do.

I've beat the snot out of this sword and it simply WILL NOT go dull. It has amazing edge holding characteristics. I of course keep it maintained with regular stropping and edge care. But it just can't stop cutting. I'm not going to say it holds an edge better than brand XY or Z because that is so subjective and broad a statement. But it holds an edge better than anything else I currently own.

I'll report back on the handling. I'll also take some pics of the various grinds and post back.

As stated above. I've had some time to get to know this piece and it's just on a whole other level of performance. Dan doesn't get enough credit for his skills. This sword is like something from the future.

Holy Crap. That's what a modern sword should be. I've heard some amazing things about 3V, hope you'll keep us posted on edge retention and all that. More chopping videos!

What a fantastic blade.
Respect that blade, always.

It is the crown jewel of my blade collection brother. I've actually started selling off a lot of my other blades to fund another Keffeler project. His tools are simply from another world.

Still as sweet as the last time I looked!

It really is. I've never owned a blade that required exploring. By that I mean... I just keep learning new things about it all the time and it keeps impressing me. The more I get to know the blade the more performance I get from it.

I wouldn't dare anger you....

It is an impressive cutting tool for sure. I truly feel like this sword could cut a man in two.

I wouldn't do it justice. Part of the amazing cutting in that video is Dan's skill. Perhaps I can talk him into a testing video of my next sword he makes. I am most certainly the limiting factor in the blades performance. I too would like to see what the new blade can do in the hands of an expert cutter.

Never considered getting a sword until now. Very nice.

I highly recommend Dan as a smith. Not only is his work amazing. I've never talked to a nicer guy. He gets excited about making new designs almost as much as the potential owner does. He simply loves to explore blades. Never had a smoother experience working with a smith. His time is VERY limited but one of his blades is worth the wait.

Still love that one. Dan's work is out of this world.

It really is CF. I fear his blades are capable of far more than my skills could ever get out of them.

Does he sell these regularly?

Mine is the original. I'm not sure if he will make others. It's certainly within his ability. Dan is a super nice guy. You should shoot him an email and ask. He gets flooded with emails though so expect him to give you his number to call him. That's one way he weeds out the tire kickers.

how much does it cost to aquire one of these if you dont mind me asking?

I've got nearly $5,000.00 invested in mine. But it required so much work and so much processing I'm sure a remake would be more. You'd need to contact Dan about that one. I don't think 5 Grand would buy this from him again.

I would pay money for a blade like that which cut that deep into a tree. I don't however have the strength factor which was played into this.
