I didn't know where else to post this. I got me a rifle for hog and deer this year. Its a Marlin 336 / 30-30. I can't wait to go to the range this week end. I like the compact size and should be easy to carry during the hike through the S TX brush.:D:D:D:thumbup:
Hope I can get some venison for the pit.

That's a beauty, I love those guns. I can't wait to get out hunting this year.

That's a sick ass BBQ:D

Nice Marlin,I like them better than the Winchesters. You don't have to major in rocket science 101 to field strip them for maintenance.

My marlin(44 mag) has served me quite well... Hope yours does the same...

Nice rifle! I have always wanted a lever action but I keep buying bolt actions and single shots. It will serve you well!

Mike

Beautiful, my Unlce in TX has one. Classic, easy to use and it'll take a fair ammout of game in 100m. Just perfect for TX.

Tried and true, what more does a guy need. I have had them in almost every caliber that they were ever chambered in. I wish I still had the 35 Rem.

Great gun! I have a 336 in .30-30 as well, but I topped mine with a Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5x scope. It's a great gun, looking forward to rifle deer season with it this November! May you have many successful hunts with your new rifle.

Thanks guys! I had read alot of good stuff about this rifle. I have always wanted a lever actions ever since I would watch Lucas McCain ( The Rifleman) on tv. Does anybody even remember that show? Hopefully I can shamelessly try and trade a knife for a chance to shoot a buck or does around this area.

Yep, proud to say I remember that show as well as wanted dead or alive... Really loved that "mares leg" !!

You can post about firearms in Gadgets & Gear but when you talk about hunting it really does belong here.

I think Davy Crockett named his rifle Betsey :)

nice score... i have been wanting to pick up a lever action 30-30 for a long time now... i am looking into the new Mossberg 464's... i have read great things about them...:)

You are right and he was one of my childhood heros. I had the coon skin hat and fake musket. Use to re enact the battle of the Alamo with my friends. They would say hey your Meskin, but I always wanted to be Davy.

That's very nice. Every 336 I've handled had a very smooth action.

I just bought a Marlin 1894SS in .44 magnum. Got it last week and I'm itching to get out and shoot it. I'm looking forward to popping some of these feral hogs we have around here.

I had a Marlin 30.30 years back. Great shooter and never had any issues with it.
You'll enjoy it much!
