  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

My new toy! Her name is Betsy

I have the same gun. It was my grandfather's deer rifle. I've had it since 1997. Its my deer rifle now. Love that gun, its not replaceable.
30-30's seem to be a thing of the past the last several years. Almost no company was making them. But there seems to be a resurrgence lately. Even Bass Pro has some on the shelves this year.

Can't go wrong with a Marlin 30-30 one of the best all around rifles ever made, IMO anyway. It's put a lot of vension on many tables over the years.....and other even larger game as well.

Nice score, you won't be sorry.

That's very nice. Every 336 I've handled had a very smooth action.

I just bought a Marlin 1894SS in .44 magnum. Got it last week and I'm itching to get out and shoot it. I'm looking forward to popping some of these feral hogs we have around here.

I also got a one in .44 Mag... And I broke down and got the 336 in SS this past spring. Love the action on both, but I've only shot the .44 so far... Haven't had time for the range to check out the 336, but I've been stocking up on ammo and plan to before the weather gets too bad!

Good luck with it!

And the Rifleman was one of my fav's growing up, too!!!! :D

Thanks guys! I had read alot of good stuff about this rifle. I have always wanted a lever actions ever since I would watch Lucas McCain ( The Rifleman) on tv. Does anybody even remember that show? Hopefully I can shamelessly try and trade a knife for a chance to shoot a buck or does around this area.

I grab the same model... I love the lever action...
I have a 9 disc dvd boxset of The Rifleman :D

I have the 44 and 45-70 Marlins. Both great guns. I had a friend who worked in a huge gun store years ago and he looked through a couple dozen boxes of Marlin 45-70s to find me one with really nice wood.

I'd also like to have a 45-70 stainless Guide Gun with synthetic stock and a few of the Wild West mods.

By the way, if you want to improve the trigger greatly, consider the Wild West "Trigger Happy" kit. It makes a big difference and was available from Brownells when I got mine.

This came to mind when I saw this thread. Nice rifle.

Those are great guns. I had a 336 in 32 special. I really want another one bad in 30-30- or 35 remmy. She will serve you well.

My Pops has one of these in 35 Rem that I will proudly own one day. It's a very nice gun. Lever actions are just down right cool.
