Well at work i just got the news Today that i will be trained on this machine on Monday. the person that ran it before left for another job so it just sat there not doing anything because no one else knew how to run it. So the person that left for the other job now works part time some times. and he told me that if i cleaned the machine that he would train me on it Monday as i have 36 little pain it the but parts to make. That will also mean that it is open to my knife making needs :). you should have seen it, it was a mess. it had chips every where and dryad coolant all over. it was a mess but not now. after spending the day cleaning it now looks almost new. O its going to be so fun. its also got a rotating chuck on the deck to do parts in 360 degrees. O happy day :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

we have a computer close to it that has auto cad and also bobcad. we use auto cad to design the parts the open it with bobcad and it will make the program code for the mill. i save it to a disk and put the disk into the mill. load up my material take my height offsets and find my zero and push the big green Start button and watch it do its thing :D

oh yeah I would break that in about a day too many buttons:D, which button do I push boss, which button do I push:p

JT - Real jealous! I am considering a Tormach 4 axis CNC when I can afford one.... Right now I have a little manual drill / mill that I can use for simple stuff. Need to get it out of the storage locker and get it set up. Who makes the machine you are going to be using?

its made by HAAS and there website is www.haascnc.com
i was looking at there price list and man these are pricy. im not sure of the model number. The cool thing is that the boss is way cool. he lets me use anything in the shop for knife making as long as im not on the clock. there are people there at the shop starting at around 5:30 am to midnight. so i can work on projects befor work or after work. its very nice. im going to be making a knife for the boss as a thank you gift.

One of the things about my job I like most is that my boss lets me do personal stuff. I'm a machinist too and you should see some of the "toys" I've made for myself or friends.
