My newest G.E.C., it kept calling me,so i pulled the trigger.

Actually, that one (in the OP) GEC calls the Western Trapper. The regular Trapper has a slim clip blade and a long straight spey blade. The Western has the big clip blade and a double hip spey blade. The Improved Trapper has a wharncliffe blade instead of a spey.
Regular

Western

Improved

2Dead, thanks for clearing that up. so my new I have coming in the pic I posted is a Western Trapper? I like all three.

Correct :) I checked GEC's website and there isn't a pic of the ivory bone for the Western Trapper and their bocote pic doesn't resolve... Here's one of the Northfield versions but they have a cut swedge so it looks different than the Tidioutes

They show 10 in stock on their website. I would have bought one, if I could be assured that it would look as good as the picture they show, but, on other vendors' websites that show both sides of the knives, I couldn't find one that had acceptable bone on both sides. There's a lot of variance in this color of bone, judging from what I've seen. Because of this, the Tidioute smooth bone Western Trapper is the only GEC 48 pattern model that I want (got a Diamond Jack, regular Jack, Improved Trapper and a regular Trapper), but don't have, yet. :( Maybe I'm just too picky. ;)
Hope yours turns out to be exactly what you want.

im very picky as well. that's why I order my G.E.C.s from KSF. they actually address your concerns when you put them in the comments when your checking out. things like blade centering and matching sides/handles etc

I really like my Western Trapper. It is close to the top of my traditional edc rotation.
I find the long spey blade great for food prep, there were a few times when pointy tip of clip or wharncliffe blades would have ended deeper in my hand than just a poke from spey.

Very nice! Ive had my eye on an ivory 48 for over two weeks now. Let me know how you like the bone once it gets in with more pics. Then again, my wallet, and wife, would be grateful if ya didn't. Don't worry....my wife thinks I am crazy as well. :)

will do Sir.

Have you received the Western Trapper? We'd like to see some pics, if you have the time.
