I picked up an F1 blade a while back, to fashion a good field/bushcraft knife for myself. It had been laying around a while, so I decided to modify the handle shape. Not sure as yet what kind of handle material it will have, but I have the hardware for the handle pins and the thong hole tubing. Thought you all might like to see the modified blade.

Looking good. I think this knife screams for Micarta myself. it would look great and be as tough as the rest of the knife.

I have a set of olive green canvas micarta slabs that I picked up for this. They may go on it, but I'm also considering a very hard wood, such as mesquite...of which I have PLENTY around the ranch here!

Love the profile and the grind of the F1 blade....
I like what you did at the finger guard, but not so much the roundness of the butt end....just my unsolicited dos centavos....I look forward to seeing the finished knife.

rayban, the original style of the handle had rather sharp "corners" at the butt end. If you use a knife with these in varying hand positions for any length of time, it will dig "holes" in the palms of your hands. I rounded it off based upon years of experience using knives in the "real world." But, to each his own!

That looks cool man, always nice to be able to put a personal touch on production blades. I've got an F1 blank sitting around that I've been meaning to put handles on, too.

Got a pic of th original blank?

I wouldn't mind ripping the kraton handle off mine and making a stacked birch bark handle with brass bolsters
