My "Nice Beater" Experiment

Did I break it yet? Did ZDP hold a edge? Did the FRN crack yet? Did the tip break yet? How well did it do being treated like a red headed step child? :D Only I know :p
 
its nice to see a high end spyderco being used instead of gathering dust in a safe :) I can't wait to see the pics :D

I have a feeling he'd have to sell it as a "modified" Endura now. However, he could almost pass off those hammer marks on the spine as an attempt at "filework.":D:p

Very nice, I own an Endura too and it's nice to know it can take a beating as well as look sexy :)

But mine is the VG10 version, but I suppose it isn't too much of a step down... Dang mate, I feel the need for ZDP after your thread :)

Wow. I'm surprised that the tip didn't snap. My Native has a few chips from just normal use (I EDC it and use it for everything, but you did some really crazy things to your knife...), and the tip is already kinda blunt...

Could you elaborate on this? I only have one Spyderco (A Spyderco "S") and it definitely has some blade play. I assumed this was because it was relatively low-end and I got it on Ebay. Are all Spydercos like that?

Every Spyderco backlock has a little wiggle... Well any backlock will have this wiggle. Its the nature of the design. Some will say mine has no wiggle at ALL. I bet I could feel the wiggle if they sent me the knife. Not being a prick, just say'in a backlock will not get a Sebbie like lockup.

Not to say a backlock is not strong. The manix has to be about one of the strongest locks on a folder. But, it to will let the blade move up and down. Its a very small amount, but its there.

Nothing to worry about, unless its moving up and down a lot. :cool:

well, as an auld german with a shot of scotch in the mix, i must protest and snivel, 'beater' seems to be semi-deliberate destruction rather than appropriate use of a folder, albeit it's your money and your life and the topic has interest, it's friggin' morbid and distressing to my thrift bone, and disrespectful of razor sharp knives everywhere. I'll shaddup now and you can tell me it's none of my darn business like it really ain't, but i hope when you get done you restore the knife to proper useable condition. Amen. ;)
