My novice axe restoration (ongoing)

Yup! Looks great as-is. It should be good to go for a lifetime once it's sharpened up! That's a very nice head to begin with...most of the Jerseys I find around me are beat to death.

@sct100 I got so freakin lucky on this axe head. I actually wanted to get another one just like it for my brother and after 6 months of searching on ebay, I havent found another keen kutter jersey.

That seems to be the way it works. I found an almost perfect Kelly Axe and Tool Michigan pattern as my first axe resto project, and haven't found a single good Kelly since. Go figure. I've found other nice finds, but they are of different makes and types...in fact, so far I've never found a similar head to something I already had (other than carpenter's hatchets)...they're all a little (or a lot) different either by make or pattern. Part of the fun!

"One-off flukes", man. Enjoy them when you can and take care not to gloat too much about their origin when you do. You've artfully done all that, and then some. Really feels good to resurrect one of these old beauties doesn't it?

Oh yeah, didn't mean to gloat though lol, just surprised at the rarity. This was the first axe I've ever bought so it's definitely specisl to me

You played this right and did us proud. Old 'junk' has no real meaning but when the power suddenly goes off and you then know what to do and have the means to do it is a real bonus.

I'm still surprised at the lack of mushrooming and the clarity of the stamp. Like I said most of the Jerseys I find have been wrecked by pounding on the poll. And it must've been kept in a garage or barn to not be all eaten up with rust.
