I spent the last few days in New York City. I went up for the Annual 2K Challenge Basketball Tournament benefiting Coaches Vs. Cancer. Four teams, four ball games, in two days featuring 3 Top 25 teams and also my beloved Terrapins. Even though we lost our two games the basketball was awesome. My first visit to Madison "Square" Garden. :D

On Friday, after taking in the Rockettes show at Radio City (Not by choice. I went up with a large group of boosters ;)), I met up with Esav Benyamin and we walked around the city for bit. Central Park, Times Square, Bryant Park,Au Bon Pain, etc. etc.. This guy is a fine man and fun to hang out with. Very thoughtful. If you have ever had or get the chance to meet him you should consider yourself lucky.

On Saturday I attended my first Knife Show. Literally millions of dollars worth of beautiful knives of every imaginable description. I saw some of the knife industry's big name types and a few other Bladeforums people. Ken C., another supermod, the infamous Ron Labella :D, Mercop, Rick Marchand, Kin at Bob Dozier's table, some Japanese guy named Takeda who is a water stone wizard, Rick Hinderer, and on and on and on.

After an hour or so at the show, Esav, Ken C., and myself left to grab a bite to eat. I got a chance to get to know Ken a bit and to eat a pretty good bacon cheeseburger. Ken is a hardworking family guy who looks only slightly younger the Esav :p. We talked about sports, knives, work, Bladeforums, Jersey, and so on and so forth. Both are good guys and they put up with a lot of stuff to help make this place run.

It was a great trip! :D Thanks for reading and be nice to the mods. :)

C'mon dttomcat, you were just trying to get in some brownie points in case you get "fined" for an infraction . . . just kiddin':)
That had to be a special couple of days, especially the knife show. I have only been on here a short while & can not wait until next year to start attending some of the functions & getting to know & meet some of the "veterans" on the forum. My mother has a similar role as to what the "mods" do on here, & I know some of the stuff she has to endure, a very thankless & sometimes frustrating job. There are not enough thank you's in the whole wide world to tell them how much we appreciate what they do (damn, I better stop, sounds like I'm trying for some of those points along with you) . . :)
It's always nice to put a face to voice or a name you see, thanks for sharing the adventure with us.
Be safe.

But Ken's not in as good shape as I am.
Hey, round is a shape. :grumpy:

I am jealous of what had to be a great weekend. Have been very fortunate to meet Ken once and look forward to the chance to see him again and officially meet Esav one day.

One day I gotta get to a NY show.

It was, a very nice weekend. I was impressed with the show. I was a lot more comfortable there than in NYC in recent years. Free parking across the street from the hotel. No mobs of people to get through. Beautiful big bright room with space for us to move around easily.

NICE knives. :D

Glad to hear ya had a great trip.

I share your sentiments. Maybe you came by my area? Hello again. :)

I gladhanded Ken, and after asked him to direct Esav my way sometime during the show. That he did.

Ed, thanks for the pause. You're a considerate and special person, whom WE ALL admire.

That was a great show!

Circle gets a square. :D BTW, was that Lurch photo some sort of nod to me?

Historically, I think, women like fat guys because they believe, sub-consciously, they'll have no trouble providing. Just my luck I'm tall and skinny. Not sure if men have ever dug fat chicks for any reason. :D

Women like fat men for the same reason men like fat women, if they leave who gives a crap.:D

I don't get into facebook. I've never ordered a Russian mail bride. I don't go to the bunny ranch. I try to keep it genuine. These guys are genuine. Sharp, I hope I was lucky enough to meet you. I'll see you again.

Gus, you have no idea, man! :)
