My observations of the Production Duke

I have a slight preference for the Woodsman, but I have and love my production Duke. The S35VN has far exceeded my expectations and I REALLY like the way it performs. The profile of the blade and the handle are both awesome. The Duke is a classic Fiddleback design and just an awesome knife.

This is the reason I don't own a Duke. I would imagine that it would get very little use as I'd always reach for the Woodsman. I'd be psyched for a production Woodsman, however.

That would be AMAZING. I would love to see one in s35vn or CMP154cm. I doubt that Andy will do it, but we can dream.

Seconded! Though I think I'll still probably pick up a production Duke here at some point.

From one Woodsman fan to another, you won't be disappointed with the Duke. The production model is a spectacular knife... just not a Woodsman. ;)

Edit to add - Fiddleback Outpost has a super cool custom Duke in 5/32" A2 for sale. Just sayin'.

Meet the bad ass cousins.

LOVE that pistol. For the longest time I have wanted to get a Ruger pistol / rifle combo in .44 mag. The problem is that I would probably never use it and I cannot justify dropping $2K on a cool gun combo that would end up gathering dust.

Been looking at that Duke all night. It's not exactly what I'm looking for and I'm being a bit picky lately. It's a great looking Duke though.

I am in the same boat; having purchased a bunch of great Fiddlebacks that were not quite what I like, and now knowing what attributes I really prefer, I too have become rather particular about what I buy. I have had to sell a bunch of knives at the Flea Market to get to this point, but I don't buy too many "almost perfect" knives any more. If that Duke was a Woodsman, I would have purchased it already.

 exactly! Though I'm still working on figuring out all of my preferences, I definitely know of them!

as pretty as the customs are, they don't have the same hard use grip that the production models have. And a knife this size or bigger really needs to lock into your hand when using.

The Duke and The Woodsman are roughly the same size, but with the blade geometry it has the Duke does chop better. But I prefer the pointier tip of the Woodsman.

Its a hell of a lot of fun to make for y'all. To watch a video like that is such a pleasure. Several times he says of both knives (Duck and 12" Machete) that they are FUN! Yea yea, he says the grind is good, the cutting performance is good, and the knife is comfortable. But hearing him say the knives are also a lot of fun, that they are a pleasure to use really made me smile. I love doing this for y'all. Hope you're having a great day!

He has a lot of great videos and seems like a reallly good dude. He also has good taste in knives.
