Had this thing since I was 10 or so, it was my dads and he can't remember where he got it. Anybody have an idea as to the maker? It has absolutely no identifying marks. I know there is a knife identification forum but alot of you in here know your machetes:thumbup: BTW this thing is crazy tough, I have put it through hell and back over the years. Throwing, batoning, felling trees...

Here it is next to an ontario

It is a bit thinner than the ontario

Hey, I have one exactly like that, except mine have orange handles. The blade's length is about 21 inches right? I also want to know where these things came from.

with the hole in the tip of it, i would think possibly an early condor. i have seen several similar looking machetes at army surplus booths at gun shows.

collins axe company comes to mind when i see that. they were the world's leading producer of axes and machetes for many many years.

nice blade, i wish you luck in identifying it.

Thanks, I think that I am going to convex it then retire it for good.

probably a good idea.youd probably be pretty bummed if you went to use it and something finally happened to it with all the history behind it.

i have all of my grandfathers tools and they are special to me.they still work fine and are tough as hell but i keep'em safe

The old machetes were constructed of good steel and were generally thicker than ours today. You can make some good finds on ebay and rehandle them with micarta or something. Make fine tools!

I have a Collins too, looks like yours . Mine had a bit of the tip broken off (yard sale find, 50 cents!) So I cut it down to 12 in. and I may put a micarta handle on it as well.
