Completed my MULE project yesterday (had a bit of free time, which doesn't happen to me too often) and today I went out of town and took it with me... perfect EDC size & weight. And it's M4 so it should be awesome cutter

Technical note: I used green canvas micarta, stainless screw-together bolts and brass pins. I reshaped a bit the hilt to my liking and made od-green kydex sheath. Lanyard... and ready! My own "XMAS MULE" :D

Very nice, mine is out getting handles right now.

man, that's a nice knife! i just don't understand why spyderco puts a hole in there fixed blades! i know it's a trademark and all, but i think it takes away from that awesome full flat grind..

this hole is GREAT feature for indexing your thumb when working with the blade in horizontal position. And also it lets you grab the blade with index finger and thumb for all skinning-like jobs. So I like it... on Spyderco :D

You've inspired me to undertake a Mule project of my own. Would you be able to let me know the sizes of the pins/bolts you used?

If you ordered from a source in the States, I'd appreciate a link.

Thank you in advance, and again, congratulations - beautiful knife!

THIS LOOKS FANTASTIC! I am with gnius that I want to take on a project like this. I have not idea where to start. Guess Google and are going to become close friends!

Just ordered my Mule!

Thats absolutely beautiful, wish I had the skills to undertake that sort of project.

My guess is that you probably do: you just have to make the effort to let them out.

Seriously---how badly do you think you could mess things up if you bought a couple of micarta slabs, some JB Weld, a file, some sandpaper and a couple of C clamps?

You could use practically anything including an 8d nail for handle pins, and those holes in the blade are so big I doubt the pins would even actually be needed once the JB Weld dried inside them and locked it all together.

I'll bet you could do a darned passable job of putting a set of scales on your own blade if you wanted. Sure they won't be as perfect as this lovely example, but I'll bet it would be 100% useful and you would love it more than any other knife that someone else did for you.

Now that fantastic kydex sheath, on the other hand...I don't know if I could ever do as good a job!
