My own personal hunter...raised clip w/ claro walnut

Seriously cool knife John.

Thanks Ben. :)

John, i'm a big fan of your knives!!
Since i don't go hunting and have no first hand experience i have a question, do you find the dropped sharp choil tendency to grab on game during dressing? SHould a rounded or more angled one be better in that situation? Thanks

Stefano

Hi Stefano- thanks for the comment and question.

I have seen that happen before and some don't like the dropped choil like that. Mine is angled slightly and the very heel of it is also rounded, on a small scale.

I do them like this for a couple reasons. First, I just like the look of the dropped heel better and secondly, there isn't a lot of room to round them much on small hunters. There is a very fine line for me between round enough and too round. I also like to have as much actual cutting edge as I can get.

Personally I have never found it to be much of an issue but on some knives, that heel could catch on the hide or ligaments or other things. It probably depends on how one uses the knife as much as anything. Some guys may have an issue with it and others not.

Thanks for posting your comments.

Thank you John, i agree on the great look of your knife's choil!!
I also have had issues on a hunter trying to round the choil, i hate to see the edge trying to "escape" too forward on a small blade, and the look it gets when it lacks "decision" (the choil's ear lobe like attitude).
Thanks for the "field" feedback, i'm in my "form follows function" research period and i lack first hand experience on the hunting terrain.

Stefano
