Over the past 2 weeks my Para-military has some new family members:thumbup:
Last week I re-aquired a Caly3 G10/VG10, not much to be said about this one it is just about the perfect EDC! This week a brand spankin new Delica 4 FG arrived at my door. The biggest shocker is that along with the Delica, I broke down and got the new Sage as well. I was pretty much against buying anything from Taiwan...but with no sign of the new NativeCF in sight, I grew weak and bought what I thought would be the next best thing...the Sage. I was really impressed with the quality of the Sage, and if it didn't have the Taiwan stamp on the blade, I'd be hard pressed to find any difference between it and a Seki-City or Golden Spydie. Top notch quality typical of Spyderco products. the Delica 4 is also very impressive for a small knife...built like a brick-$hithouse. This will be a nice work folder...love the flat grind and the FG-G10. Next week I have a Captain coming that I aquired in a trade...so the Spydie drawer is filling up. Next month I start a project in the Federal building so I need a knife with a blade no longer than 2.5"...so I'm hoping that the Urban will be available verrry soon...a nice orange G-10 wharncliff should do the trick:D

Nice mix Dave,

Seems were on the same page, filling our Spidie drawer. ;)
My next one is the Para..to join the Sage,Tenacious, mini Manix, Military,Calylll
and last but not least,my first purchase the Native.
In the pic, the Para doesn't look much longer than the Sage, I thought the Para would be quite a bit bigger, more like my Millie.

Man, I love all of those. The Sage looks particularly nice. The only 2 things that turn me off and away from it are:

1. Liner lock
2. No backspacer!!!!$#@@#%!

So I'm waiting for the lockback version. That gets rid of #1 and I would imagine it would get rid of #2 since most (if not, all) lockbacks I've seen have backspacers.

All of those above are very close to 3-inches. The Sage and Caly 3 are both 3-inchers, the Delica is slightly less than 3" (2+7/8, I believe), and the Para is slightly more than 3" (3+3/32, I believe).

Man, that's over $400 in that picture right there :o

My wallet says otherwise :p

No, really. I'm going to play the waiting game. I thought I had my heart set on quite a few knives in the past month, and every time, right before ordering, I said to myself, "my Delica has done everything and will probably continue doing everything."

That is, until that S90V, Ball-bearing Manix comes out :p

For real. I'm waiting for that. I really want an S90V knife, but I don't want a liner lock (so that rules out the Military, let alone the Sage :() If an S90V, ball-bearing Manix comes out, I will have THE perfect knife.

I would get a Sage if it had a non-liner and non-frame lock, though. I really want a backspacer because knives always feel more robust with them, and because I carry my knives in the same pocket I carry keys (I wouldn't want my keys slipping in and messing with the edge.)

Good on you! Being able to control your purchases is a good thing.
I drive for a living,so there's lots of thinking time :p
I can't seem to stop thinking about my next knife, until it arrives, and then it starts all over again, within minutes of opening the package.
I need counseling!!

I avoided buying liner locks because of their reputation, not because of any first hand failures I have/had experienced. After lots of research, popular opinion seemed to place Spyderco's liner locks above the rest, then the Sage appeared. The reviews for the Sage and it's liner lock were nothing but positive so I figured if I were to get another knife with a LL, the Sage would be it. I've had 3 other LL knives in the past and I sold them all due to LL hype, not because of any issues or problems I was having:(. My issue with the Sage was were it was made, but after recieving it, I'm definitely over that, top notch Spyderco quality thru and thru. The lock is first rate, and perfectly engaged, and I trust it as much as any other lock I have:thumbup:. I like the lock so much I have a Spyderco Captain on it's way:D

I also like the durability and reputation of lockback knives, but if I had a choice, I prefer knives with open constrution, and a framelock. They are just so much easier to keep clean and no worries about lint getting into the lock area's. Plus depending on materials are slightly lighter in weight. Some of the most popular knives are open construction, i.e. Sebenza, Strider, Para-military, Military to name a few, and they are as durable and solid as they come. I keep my keys in my opposite (left front) pocket clipped to a belt loop so I don't have any problems with keys getting into the knife.

Anyways just giving my .02cents, and thanks for the compliments.

Oh, don't worry. I have no doubts about Spyderco's liner locks. I simply would rather have a knife that isn't going to wear on me (at least at the rate of a LL) sometime down the road. Whether it's in 5 years or 15 years or 25 years, I still don't like the idea of the LL's concept, how it's always going to be metal grinding on metal.

So if anything, it's my own OCD :o

Perhaps it's just my ignorance, but I can't think of any lock that ultimately is not metal grinding on metal.

True, but still, other locks don't grind on the same level as LLs do.

A lockback bar grinds on the tang, but even that part that grinds with the tang isn't the main... "point..." of that kind of lock... Kinda hard to explain. If some of that part goes, then the lock is still functional as before. If some of a LL goes, then the lock kinda changes; it doesn't land in the same spot it did before anymore.

Like I said, it's more in my head, probably :o

But that's ok; more money in my pocket, right? :D
