Today I decided to attempt to patina my BK9, and let me tell you what.
I've never fell in love with a knife the way I have with this.
Here's the beauty before the operation.

Here's the tools I used, not pictured is the oil I put on the blade and handles.

Got her stripped down

Used Solder to rotate the blade when spraying the paint remover. Pretty useful!

Her completely sprayed!
Boy I was getting so excited, there's no turning back now!

Then I used a shop knife and started removing that thick coating!

Here's what I found after I applied my mix of all natural brown mustard(Yum!) and All natural white vinegar.

Here she is all cleaned off, not done yet! Still have to do a full patina and final sanding!

Thanks! My Favorite image is the one labeled Attachment 438456, looks so at home out in the sun!

This weekend, probably tomorrow she'll see some abuse that's a promise!

Your last round of pictures didn't show up. Awesome job there brother. Looks better than the job I did on my two and on my seven. How did you apply your mustard and vinegar? I really like that pattern you achieved.

Holy cow, you just convinced me to get one of those.
That patina turned out better than I thought patinas could. Nice job!

Wow that means a lot Pirate! And good! Beckers are kings among men!
The mods I have done to mine have given me a new tough with the knife.
It feels different when I hold it now, I hold some thing I customized and made shine myself.
It really does make a difference regardless of what knife you do things with.
I can't wait to get a BK2 and do the same thing.
Thanks again pirate, that means a lot.

Doing excellent. Sitting at the park overlooking the Ohio river and staring across at Kentucky playing with my Beckers. Starting a custom job on my BK2s grivory handles. Really hoping to not mess them up too bad lol

You'll be fine!
If anything you can buy some sexy wood handles lol!
good to hear, I'm about to go outdoors in a few myself with my friend and I might be taking out my baby for some use!

That patina looks great, very intricate design. I use a mixture of mustard, vinegar and hot sauce. But, of course, the fun part is seeing what the patina evolves into after using it. And 1095 CroVan is an awesome steel to experiment on.
