My Patina Journy

Looks really good. My mustard & vinegar patinas never come out so cool, so I sand 'em off and go flat grey vinegar.
Maybe I didn't have enough polish on to begin with?
Maybe I'll try again. I have a couple lyin' around I haven't finished off yet. (Though I almost had a watermelon patina going on the 15, and peach on the "151".) I was going to go a different route on them, but I don't think I'm ever going to get around to it.

Nice work!

That patina looks great, very intricate design. I use a mixture of mustard, vinegar and hot sauce. But, of course, the fun part is seeing what the patina evolves into after using it. And 1095 CroVan is an awesome steel to experiment on.

Yup I used mustard and vinegar, it did an excellent job. I let it sit for about 2 hours or so and I think it came out perfect!
Mind posting an image of your work?!

Thanks a lot!
And well what I did was make a mixture of mustard and vinegar and used Qtips and made the design I wanted and dabbed it above the edge for a nice look there too!
Try it again, it's a lot of fun lol.
I believe in you!

Sure. But I must say, it looks way better now that it has been used.

That is a fantastic job I've tried 3 different knives and all three turned out really bad thats why so far all my beckers are still coated.
When if I can turn out something even close to your work then I'll strip and patina all mine

Oh yeah! I remember seeing your knife before! I really liked the burned braided rope idea!

Truth it's honestly not all that hard.
Make sure you sand it nice and well, wipe it all down in alcohol. make your mixture, take a Qtip and paint it on, wait for the apparpriate time, clean it all off, then force a full blade patina by wrapping the blade in paper towel and pouring vinegar on it! Wait only 10 minutes for that though!
Then take the highest grit sandpaper to it for a couple of seconds, oil it, and BOOM sexy blade time!

Here's an excellent video to watch, I really like this guy, he makes cool blades.
However I didn't like the patina he did, I just followed his instructions!
