My perfect combo !

Well I think I found my perfect knife combo for the northern woodlands:
1- BK9 used for a while and stripped the coating. I recently added the micarta grips: they are worth their price in my opinion. Of course a kydex sheath is necessary and I carry it either in my back or over my shoulder.
This is the knife I use to chop down small trees and baton medium/large size wood.

2- BK16 used and stripped. Same mods as the BK9. This is my belt knife for general use and to baton smaller wood.

3- BK24 an excellent neck knife and back up.

What do you guys think of this combo ? Can it be beaten ? :D

You nailed it in my book. That is my "go to" combo as well (except with a BK14).

Those are my three favorite Beckers. Like the man said... nailed it. FWIW, I would be okay if you subbed a 17 for the 16.

For the price no, you can not beat that trifecta of awesomeness!

This however will not stop you from buying other knives to see if they can knock one of these three out of the rotation.

Good combo. Mine would be the same, except for replacing the 16 with a TOPS B.O.B. Only because my hand's too big for the tweeners. Really, I wouldn't feel a need for a 14 if I had the 16.

I feel the same way but the 14 is my neck knife and I'd feel completely buck nekkid without a neck knife. I just reach there first out of habit. :D

You are unfortunately (or fortunately) right !
I suspect I will be buying more knives :D
I guess I'm a bit crazy about knives LOL

Good point. Not always easy to retrieve a knife from a belt sheath, especially when you're you're in the squatting position. Of course, you probably wouldn't need a 14 to wipe your ass anyways, just sayin'...:D

That's a good combo, I have all three. I find that carrying both the bk16 and the bk14 is redundant, YMMV. I'm jealous of the kydex though :D I'm in the market for a bk9 sheath with a bk14 piggyback attachment.

I just made this one yesterday, seems like it should come in handy.

Nice combo, that will definitely cover all bases!!!

My usual combo in warmer weather is the BK9 and BK14.

I'm curious as to how you wear the BK9 and the BK16 on the belt at the same time.

I'm thinking that's just about perfect, although I probably wouldn't have a knife hanging around my neck either if I had all that and a pack, too. Looking forward to putting my money where my mouth is soon; just attached a little Altoids tin pouch to this combo yesterday:

I'd say you nailed the selection, just get 'em attached to one another and you'll be good to go....unless they're pack mounted, in which case disregard ;).

I have 2 combos I find work for me.....the "lightweight" combo is the Eskabar and the BK7. The "heavy duty" combo is the BK16 and the BK9. Both combos with a folding saw, of course.
