My perfect EDC?

If you can afford a sebenza it is a fine blade. However, for someone just looking for a work knife w/o a special love for blades I would skip it. You pay a lot for small details that might easily be overlooked. Much like fine wine I guess.

My suggestion would be the caly 3 or para 2 by spyderco. They just work great. My parents adore the caly 3 I got for them and use it all the time when camping etc. Just great working knives. The only problem with vg10 is that it can rust a little if left wet. It's not super terrible though :)

I think that if you think there is a "perfect" out there, then you will be sorely disappointed.

You will either own many knives, or you will just carry one and put-up with the cons that come with the pros of the knife.

 Totally agree with CWL on this. I own several knives that I rotate through regularly for daily carry. All are excellent blades, but no single blade is ideally-suited to all tasks. Out of my collection, I most often carry either my Kershaw Skyline, Spyderco Delica 4 FFG, and the knife discussed below.

+1 on Osborne - The Benchmade 94X series has been around awhile, and is well proven. I personally like the 943 with the black alum. handles, and clip-point blade. The Axis is so smooth, and quick on this well balanced knife.

With that in mind, +2 for the Benchmade 940 series. I recently picked up a 943, and it's absolutely amazing. The S30V blade holds a working edge extremely well, it's incredibly smooth and easy to flip the blade out, and it's built solidly like a tank. A really elegant tank.

One thing to keep in mind with this series:
940 = Modified reverse tanto blade = stronger tip, but a little less useful for detail cutting (digging out splinters, etc)

943 = Clip-point blade = slightly more fragile tip, but is very well-suited for EDC work, as long as you use your knife only as a knife (not as a prybar, screwdriver, hammer).

The Spyderco Paramilitary should also be an awesome choice, but keep this one in mind, especially if you're looking to build your collection! ;)

As I´ve said before... Benchmade 707 Sequel is the best of the best! 154CM blade steel (2,95"), aircraft aluminum handles with G10 inlays. Axis lock and an outstanding blade-to-handle ratio. Superstrong but small enough to disapear in your pocket. Not to tachtical looking as well. Perfect fit and finish. It´s my own poor mans Sebenza.

I second this. Of all my knives, this is my favorite.
