This is the first knife I have made for myself in several years. Damsteel dense twist with mother of pearl scales, 416SS bolsters, and 14K gold pins. Decided I should carry something nice, so I am!

Beautiful work, Don. Is it a slip joint or a lock back? Also I'm curious how the blade opens, I don't see a nail nick.

Wow! Very nice EDC. Looks like one you will enjoy for quite a while....

Yes it is a fixed blade, I don't think Don makes folders, but I could be wrong. I just got a knife from Don, and he does excellent work, all of his knives have great lines, and judging from what I have excellent workmanship.

As Kyle said, it is a fixed blade, which would certainly account for the absence of a nail nick ...and a single bar of steel (the damascus goes all the way through the handle) is the best locking mechanism available.

I don't make folders, but not because I don't like them; I just like straight knives more, and think they deserve more attention as everyday carry knives.

I appreciate your comments, guys. Thanks.

Don,
That IS a nice one! I agree about carrying fixed blades. I've found that a knife like yours will attract positive attention from least likely people!!
Unfortunatly my last "Keeper", a Stellite one by the way, is in about 110 feet of water 50 miles off Stump Pass Florida

No CHANCE of picking it up with a magnet either

What can I say. The makers here on BFC do such nice work, I've grown accustomed to seeing folders as seemlessly executed as Don's beautiful new EDC pictured here.

Still, thanks for being gentle, David.

Don,
EDC is simply our little acronym for "every day carry", as popularized by the name Darrel gave to one of his excellent folders.

That's a beauty, Don. I peruse your site frequently. I'm a big fan of the small fixed blade EDC as well.

And Neil, at least you can take comfort in the fact that's it's not rusting down there.
