My Problem With Pocket Clips

I've never bent one that bad but I've bent a few in my day. I just take it off and bend it back.

A good chunk of the time, my knife has no clip and rides in my front, right pocket. I don't find digging in my pocket for my knife a big deal.

This one can't be removed or bent back without damaging the scale, unfortunately. I still prefer clips for most of my pocketknives. But I plan to replace the scales and just carry this SAK down in my pocket the way God apparently intended.

Is Swissbianco still selling them?
I asked that same question at the SwissBianco forum on April 16th and still haven't received a response. I don't know if they are out of business or simply not paying attention to their own forum.

I like pocket clips for the most part. The issues I have are that they bang into stuff sometimes, and they can make you lose your knife. I lost a Kershaw scallion because something caught the clip in the woods and there went my knife. Ive had others ride up halfway out of pockets with movement. Ive bent them also (though mine were able to be bent back).
So I dont carry clipped knives in the woods anymore. I do carry them though I prefer a belt knife for the most part, and a slipjoint in my pocket. I still have and use moderns though.

Just ordered a pair of red scales from their website. I will update when I receive them.

Try putting the round shank of a screwdriver between the handle and clip. Push down on the clip to bend it back to shape. OR get a pair of needle nose pliers and work the clip back down. Good luck!

I have had good success using this screwdriver method multiple times in the past. Use the screwdriver at the upper part of the clip as it opens it far enough to bend the bottom portion back towards the handle. Sometimes you need a larger screwdriver or move it down a bit to get it to bend just right. Works wonders.

Got my scales from Swissbianco in the mail today.

Pocket clips were an unnecessary invention, in my opinion. You could just remove it and drop the knife in the pocket like people have been doing for centuries. You'll get used to it.

I did that as a kid (well, carried loose in pocket...no pocket clips back then).
I do not have ANY of the knives I had as a kid...they all fell out along the way.

Since pocket clips, no more lost knives. :)

Tried carrying a traditional folder loose in the pocket during a woods outing...it fell out on the ground.
Luckily it fell out once we'd reached the site we were going to use, and it fell out during the day after we'd cleared all the leaves away.

So for me it's either use a pocket clip (which I like), or a belt pouch (which I hate...hate pouches on my belt...guess I'm not Batman...).

Well, I guess they're a good idea then. I have carried on a belt sheath, which I like, but mostly loose in my left front pocket. I have owned dozens of knives, but only lost one--a small lockback that probably fell out of my pocket while I was getting out of my car. I am glad there are so many options. I may buy a modern knife someday, but I would probably have to remove the pocket clip! ;)

I have three knives that would certainly be more comfortable to use without the pocket clip (clip design and position makes a huge difference). But if I took the clips off, I'd have to leave them at home or risk losing them. :D

I've had knives come out of my pocket both with a clip and without. The only sure way to not lose a knife is to leave it at home.
