My PSK. Is it OK?

As a PSK container, I don't think that the Trangia 210 Mess Tin can be beat!

Unlike a plastic container, the 210 will collect/hold/boil water and cook, it has a lid and a detachable, insulated handle.

Run a strip of electrical tape around the tin and lid join, this will make the whole thing watertight.

There is also the 212, without the handle, and the 211, which is larger and also has no handle.

One of these, packed with your PSK gear, and a Blizzard Survival Bag, make a good combination for bad times.

Great suggestions, all. Keep em coming. I have a LMF firesteel on my Bravo 1 sheath and another on a neck lanyard with a whistle and neck knife. The mag block is just a redundancy. A survival blanket is in with my first aid kit (couldn't smash it in the psk). I usually have a tube of superglue in there, too. Guess I forgot to replace it last time I used it (I think I used it when I clipped Molly's nail too short). thanks for reminding me.

I like the container idea for AoroNautiCal. The metal container is itself useful in a pinch, not just the contents that it holds.

Oh... Never really thought of that. Great suggestion! It's not much fun having the trots when at home... could be kinda nasty in the woods. Ick.

Can't help myself..... You would be an unhappy DRMUDDBUTT ambling down the trail.

Back to the gear, something to boil in as previously suggested, and a good plastic bag for holding.
Foil sucks...good for putting out your fire, get the disposable mini loaf tins, they fold flat and are carefully reusable.

This is very cool. Do you have any pictures of your's all loaded up? I like the idea of a PSK container that can double as a cooking pot and cup.

nice kit- love the BRKT PSK :)

as others have suggested I'd add a AMK heatsheet- should fit in the very bottom, they're pretty flat

you might save some room by using smaller cord over 550, I use 2 mm stuff that is rated at ~ 200 #- plenty strong enough for lashing duties for a debris shelter or lean-to

a few firestraws adds very little in the way of volume and assures you of good tinder to catch a spark

I've added a Petzel e-light to my kit, not much bigger than a keychain light, but brighter and a headlamp to boot

water purification tabs, 1 qt water container http://bepreparedtosurvive.com/WaterContainers.htm and some heavy aluminum foil (cut from turkey roasters or the like) would round things out

I have to agree on bringing 4 immodiums and 3 or 4 gravol. Water lost from either end is can be serious in survival. If you are nauseated enough to be throwing up due to many different things, gravol will calm your stomach down so you can hold down water. I have picked up bugs/iffi food travelling and could not hold down a thimble of water without them.

This is what I was told by a "twyggy" on another site:

"Learn and apply the principles of bushcraft. Human have been thriving for thousands of years without foot powders and peptobismol.
The absence of OTC does not equate to messing your pants, silly muffin-head. Sounds like you could learn a thing or two from the Luddites. Maybe they'd even show you where the Blackberry roots are if you quit making Aristotle roll in his grave."

Can everyone here locate the med bushes out there, if you're falling down sick?? I carry OTC meds for the same reason I carry a knife, I don't want to search for flint to make a blade.
