Glad you were able to get to a vet quickly and that she is OK. I bet she had a tough night.

The black lab below got nailed in his face by a water moccasin when he was younger. He got a little upset at the snake and tore it to pieces before I could calm him down and get him to the emergency vet. He is not a very violent dog, but to this day will go after snakes with a vengeance.

Labs are very funny that way. I'm just about "ready" to get another after havin mine put down about a year ago.

Snakes are most active at dawn and then again at dusk. I think I am gonna get Gracie a vaccination. Glad to here your spaniel made it. Still not a good idea to kill all snakes. I shot a rattler while dove hunting once, I cornered it by accident. I have many other times just given them wide berth and they move away. Snakes are extremely beneficial in rodent control and should not be killed at random. Enough of them get run over on the road anyways.
