My quest to customize a knife, BK9.

I think your creativity killed it in the end. As in, it looks awesome! Thanks for sharing

Hey Mcfly......

Hope you just lost the loops and whorls...... Those belt wounds when they draw blood are freaking painful.......Nerves and abrasive grit do not coexist in a kindly way..... LOL.......Really beautiful work sir.....

Holy crap. I love both versions of this! Those wood handles are gorgeous and looks outstanding with that Sagewood sheath.

Damn.
Great work.
That finish on the blade and those beautiful handle scales go great together.

Also, I don't know that I've ever seen a -9 with the pommel ground off. That was a great touch, and will probably add a little bit of forward weight while chopping.

beautiful scales! i'm about to embark on my first stint at making some handles too...quick question, did you do all your shaping on a belt sander?

Yes. All shaping and pommel removal was done with a 4" craftsman tabletop belt sander. One word of advice to anyone considering making their own handles...Make sure to wear a respirator when sanding. The wood dust is very fine and easily inhaled which isn't good for the old pipes. The resin used to make micarta is toxic and very bad for you. Respirator, vacuum and good ventilation are highly recommended. I know a lot of you all already know this, but just a warning of safety for those that might not.

Thanks again to all for the great comments.
