My R/C truck will be stealing my knife money!

I wish the guy guy at Hobby People had pushed the T-Maxx or E-Maxx a little harder as that's what I really want now. Not that the RC10T isn't fun, but the T-Maxx seems like you could run over a whole bunch more stuff with it.

The question now is Nitro Maxx or Electric.

Wait, what am I saying. If I show up with another truck in the same month and the new BM941 BC1 I just bought my wife might finally hit the roof (she's been very indulgent so far).

Hey JMX

You can do what my cousin does. When he makes a new purchase...he sticks it up in the rafters of the garage. He makes some excuse for his wife to be out there as he pokes around the garage later. Then as he's looking around he exclaims, "Wow, I haven't seen this in years!" as he reaches for the new toy and blows off non-existant dust. :D :p

In reality though, she has figured it out and does the same thing.

Poking around in the closet. "Wow honey, I haven't seen this dress and shoes for so long, I forgot I had it!" :p

Oh yeah...nitro, nitro!

Hmm, that's a good one! That's what I did with new knives, she thinks they all look alike anyway :p
JMX- If you decide to get a Maxx, get the T. Nitro just plain rocks!

The Nitros are good for longer run times whereas the electrics are actually faster and have more torque for quicker launches and better hill climbing.

Then there is the noise issue.

But the longer run time really is appealing after having to let my electric RC10T cool down after each battery.

Hmmm...

This R/C bug is biting real hard!!! I have settled on a T-Maxx [what other choice is there] and figure it's best to go nitro.

Now.........How to buy one!!!! Is it best to just buy one NIB or go to E-bay and buy one that already has been hopped up?
AND:

what would be considered IMPORTANT upgrades?

As soon as I figure this out, I start my quest for the money!!!!
Thanks guys

Ira;)

Get one that you know is in new condition, not someone's pre hopped -up/ butchered example. That way you know exactly what's been done to it. If you buy used, you have no idea how many hours are on the motor, how many screws are stripped, etc.

that makes alot of sense, and I never gave that much thought. I was figuring it was a good way for a newbie to get a truck that has already had the necessary mods done. But the point that you really do not know the true history of the T-maxx is a point very well taken!!!!

Now will one of you guys pick up a Nitro R/C truck, work some magic to it, have it absolutely ready to run and then decide you want to trade it. I will throw customs, productions, surefires, guns, whatever it takes to get my hands on one.

until then I have to keep dreaming and drooling!!!!!.....Ira:(

Well I gotta $300 Bid on a really nicely set-up T-MAXX that is owned by an adult who is into nitro. I have talked to him at length and this T-MAXX is perfectly set up for a NEWBIE idiot like me. So I sell a knife, win the bid and soon I will own an absolutely cherry truck that has been broken in and set-up properly. What am I doing????? Like I can afford another hobby, this is insane!!!

But I am as excited as a little kid!!!! I will shoot some photos when it comes and after I nail my first tree..........Ira

Alright Ira! Sound like you found a great deal. Now you will be walking in a world of T-Maxx hopups. You'll be scanning for good places to drive it, fixing it, tinkering, tuning...It goes on and on, but man it'd FUN!
BlackRazor, as my wife says, it's a guy thing! I can't think of many things cooler than a nitro burning, r/c monster truck (Those on road nitro cars look awesome too, some day I'll get one of the 1/6 scale touring cars with a 4 stroke engine!):D

Cool Ira...hope your bid wins! :D

Uuuummmm...four stroke (in best Homer voice). That would be cool...but talk about expensive! I heard an RC airplane with a four stroke engine, sounded sweet. They have some radial airplane engines that must sound really neat, didn't look at the price tag but they must be $$$$$$$.

Read an article about a guy who put a 4-stroke in a RC10GT I think. Had to do a lot of work, but he stated it was pretty neat when finished.

Think I'll take my truck out and play this weekend! :D

Buying a knife has always been more like a part of growing up, whereas, buying an RC car to me has always felt more like a part of being a kid again. There is no redemming qualities like:" I can open a box or skin a fish with it". It's all about " I can be a kid again and just play".

This is the toy you always wanted as a lad but either you couldn't afford it, or it didn't exist yet (because you're old).

They are ton's of fun, but be prepared for repairs and upgrades as you're sure to crash and break it.

The carbon fiber and titanium add ons are cool, but not free.
