Checked it on the shelf - either I lost it (almost impossible) or it was stolen (could hardly imagine it, it's my own apartment). I cant be the kids, and I carried her, but not often. Where can I get one? I've seen three or four recently, all priced stellar and all gone fast. Rats!

ps: i think Ronybear still have his proto

Watch those rats......they normally multiply, not disappear!!! I hope you find one soon!

Has the weather changed recently?

if so, check your cold-weather clothes.
Whenever I lose a knife, it's in the spring or fall . . . about the time I put away my warm or cold weather clothes.

Hope you find it

Now I getting paranoic:
Look:
1) one set of keys lost, cant find it anywhere
2) last month small amounts of money were missed
(cant say exactly, I always kept about $500 in cash openly;
after I stopped doing this, the Rat disappeared)
3) floor which was clean in the morning looks dusty after we returned from the park (about 2 hrs every day, always in fixed time)
4) phone calling card missed too
and we have some immi people living next door.

I know this sounds crazy, but I'm about to go to police and start an investigation (this calling card could be the clue)
They will laugh at me for sure.

That doesn't sound paranoid, but one thing, change your locks. Hope you manage to sort this out.

If your apartments are ajoined, there is usually a crawl space in the ceiling. Had a couple of friends get ripped off this way. People we crawliing from apt to apt and taking what they want.
Good luck!

As long as you've checked you closet ceilings. My friend's was in the back of a walk in closet and did not know the panel went to 'roof acess'.

No, just vents. Enough for a rat but not for human rat. The ceiling is solid concrete.
I still thik it won't be sufficient to start investigation.

Do you have anything like pack rats over there?

A few years back we noticed things started "missing" from our cabin . . . knifes, forks, binocular straps, etc . . .
We put out some bait, followed the smell, and found a nest with the missing objects.

Check the crawl spaces with a flashlight and see if a critter is stashing then up there.

Gosh, no, just a figure of speech… no roaches either. I've seen a spider or two, in the bathroom, harmless ones.

I've seen rats near foodmarket - some of the guys hunt them with airguns.:)

Whenever I lose a pocketknife, it usually turns up beneath my car seat. The blade works itself out of my pocket and falls through the seatbelt hole. It is usually when I'm looking for a lost french fry that I find my long lost friend. So you might want to check there if you own a vehicle, or under your couch cushions.

Man I hope you find another one. I hate to lose a knife, and especially a Rat.

I lost my HR about a week ago. My son and I rode four wheelers down in the bottoms all day, and I had it in one of my compartments on the rear bag. When we got home I started unloading, and found that compartment open with lots of stuff missing(lighter, sharpener, jerky, Streamlight Scorpion). I guess I left it open when I retrieved some jerky.

have you looked at the place where all the socks go when they disappear? i might just be there.

Sorry for your loss but more importantly something seems amiss. As a former LEO I go by the the theory that "There are no coincidences". Someone may have a pass key to your apartment(ie. maintenance man, superintendent, former tenant, etc). First, change your locks and install some motion detectors. Second, get a bolt down high quality safe for valuables. Third, be very alert for anything or anyone suspicious, even things that seem only slightly out-of-place and keep notes (for example descriptions of people, vehicles and license plate numbers). Also, casually check with other tenants to see if there is a pattern of thefts or suspicious activity. Good luck and stay safe.
