Was using my RC4 this morning to trim some branches. Had hold of the branch I was trimming, the blade sliced through, and the belly caught my pinky finger, almost paralell to the finger, right above the joint.

7 stitches, a first for me in one finger! The doc was impressed with the cut, how clean it was. Told him the brand, and model, he commented he may have to get one for big game hunting!

lol the doctor wanted one? :D that is funny.

and ouch that looks bad! hope it heals up fast.

That's a nasty looking cut but at least it was clean. I think you'd be missing a finger had it been the Junglas.

LOL a Rash of who can Bleed the most :D
Guys I am not doing a bleed out contest..so quit it ;)

Hope you get better soon

Those pics need to go into the cuts/injuries thread made the other day, they're perfect. That looks just like Adam's cut on his trigger finger a few weeks ago. I think he also had the same amount of stiches. Good thing it wasn't any worst and didn't cause any nerve damage.

Thanks, I'm blessed that I heal quickly.

The most painful part of all was the tetanus shot, still feels like a rock in my shoulder. Between the edge on the knife, and the angle of the blade, I noticed my hand was wet and sticky before I felt any pain.

Docs more concerned that I may have clipped the tendon, so I need to keep an eye on it.

Yeah those tendons are on the back of the hand, gotta watch those.

This has been the season for bites. I got my 4 stitches from my Izula bite out but it isn't 100% yet. I've got a CCW class to teach tomorrow and after 2 weeks of having it immobolized, I realized I can BARELY squeeze the 5.5# trigger on my carry Glocks. Ruh roh. Going to have to start using my finger more to get my strength back. Crazy that you can lose the strength that fast.

It's funny that these types of posts are popping up right now. I haven't injured myself for quite awhile and just today I was using my Becker Necker and I sliced the back of my hand right behind the knuckle. Probably should have some stitches but I just held pressure until most of the bleeding stopped and then I've taped it together really tight with waterproof bandages.

Nice work Jess. Were you TRYING to cut the tip of your finger off or was it an accident. :-).

Hope everything is ok.

Well now that you have been christened by your RC-4 you now have a unbreakable bond. :D

Enjoy!

Instead of all the sharpening threads I think we should have a thread on making knives blunt. There seems to have been too many casualties in recent weeks, me included.

Nice pics though. Hope u heal up quick.

I feel your pain Jess. I had a similar incident about a month back with my izula. She bit my index finger right between my knuckle and first joint. She cut me so clean that i had a good thirty second of "wow thats a deep one" before the blood ran free....lol. Me being the stubborn individual i am i grabbed a sock to stop the bleeding. Then proceeded to split a mall limb to splint it with. All in all great experience and glad i didnt hit my tendon. Needless to say my izula is my most favorite little knife. Ill try and find the pics and post them in the cut section later.
