after quite some time with my littl crkt knife, i was cutting a twig ( i was bored) and probably the result of being used by my dad, the blade went schwing, and busted off the base, i contacted my good friends at crkt and they told me in a nice fancy way to cram it in my derriere. so damn. ok well ive decided that if i want to get a decent knife, and im hopefully going to only do this once, im going to spend some money. so im capping it at 120 dollars, maybe 150 CANADIAN, im only going to spend 150, or maybe a bit more ( 5-10) if its a really nice knife. so lets hear it, ooh it must be a folder!!!

and no Spydercos!!!!

Well, ya kind of tied a lot of hands banning spyderco knives. A chinook would have come up for sure.
But....

What kind of uses will it have? Do you need a one hand opener, or will a nice case trapper do?

A benchmade griptilian might fit the bill, but is a sheepsfoot blade ok?

Offer a little criteria and I am sure the advice will flood in.

$150 canadian, thats what in USD$ , like 13 or 14 dollars?

:p :p :p

sorry, i couldnt resist!

id reccomend the Cammilus CUDA EDC, im not sure how much that is up north, but it can be had here for less than $50.

Well, I've always sworn by by Buck folders, I especially like my Lightning HTA and the Odyssey is a well designed knife in my opinion and you can get it in ATS-34 with carbon fiber handles if I remember right.

However, my wife gave me a partially serrated Kershaw Blackout, designed by Ken Onion that I'm growing fonder of by the day. It's a wonderfully designed knife that is light and comfortable to hold and once you get the torsion assisted opening down it a breeze to open and close one handed. It's my everyday carry now and the only concern I have with it is that he tip is very thin so I wouldn't be prying with it (shouldn't be doing that anyway, right!). The thin ground tip and edge makes it a terrific cutter.

I don't know how much they are right now but I think the Sebenza is an excellent knife. Might be a bit out of your price range right now.

I recently got a CRKT KISS with the tanto blade and like it real well too but it sounds like you aren't too fond of that company right now.
Whatever, good luck!

If you broke a knife whittling, better get something beefy! Griptilian BM would be good, or SPYDERCO!!! Unless you have good reason to not want the Spydies, they are your best bet in that price range.

Spyderco Native or the Endura...
less than 150 for sure.

I don't know what going on in this thread but with a buget like that there are lots of grat knives you can get.

Like a Benchmade 710 or 705 or even the 94X series
Or a Sere 2000
Or a Sog vision

These are all great knives! and You CAN find them in you buget

It's just my opinion but the guys above are looking at MSRP prices or something cause with you buget you could buy much better knives then the ones listed so far :p

The knives listed are good for the money (including spyderco) they work for what they are but for he said 150 canadian that's about 100 US.
Check out THIS site for the best prices around

Raptor posted before I finished typing...the SERE is 118 at the site I suggested ;)

I agree 100%, at $150 CDN (~$120 US ?) you can get 3/4 of the production knives on the market, especially if you watch the for sale section.

Not sure of your size requirements either.

Here would be a good list for starters...

Benchmade TSEK Axis (MUCH bang for the buck!)
SOG Vision
Benchmade 710
Benchmade AFCK D2
Microtech LCC (you'd have to shop around a bit...)
MOD Trident or Tempest
MOD Hornet
SERE
Buck Strider
Cold Steel Voyagers

I'm sure there are many more but that's a quick list...

I'm also surprised CRKT treated you that way, they are supposed to have pretty good CS...

ok, those are all a lot of cool suggestyions, ill slim it dpown for you, it doesent matter if its 1 hand opening. it doesent need a tactical look, i just dont like the looks of spydercos!!! i dont want any, i repeat ANY serrations. the bm griptillian looked nice:S

but on the grip, whats that button? is it an auto?????

The grip is not an auto. That button releases its lock.

There are too many good options. May I suggest the Benchmade #921 Switchback or the axis-lock version of their AFCK?

I second the motion to shop at www.newgraham.com
For non-Benchmade knives (yes, I was surprized to find out that Benchmade wasn't the only knife company, too ;) ), you may want to check out the following online retailers:

www.1sks.com
www.wholesalehunter.com
www.botachtactical.com

If the 921 is out of your reach, please consider the 806D2. It is a great value for the money.

Al Mar is an excelent choice.

What about the lenght ? What about the laws in your country / state ?

roloss_valdes

So, you want a folder that would be pretty hard to bust? Get yourself a SOG Tomcat and be happy.:).

in my country, the only laws are, no gravity knives, no autos, push daggers or belt buckle knives, no length laws exist
