My search for the perfect neck knife wasn't successful...

...I don't know where my search for the perfect necker will lead me. Until now, I wasn't successful in my search.

- I have an Izula, and while it is a great little knife, I don't like the looks of it (the slight recurve, the finger guard, the skeletonized handle)

- What I basically want: a neck knife in the 6-7 inch range, very stout and tough (indestructable like the legendary Busses) but still a great cutter and without the ugly choils (I just don't like them)

- On the list so far: Busse Game Warden Hack, Bark River Mini Canadian (3v), Bark River Little Creek (3v), Fehrmann Thru Hiker, Black Jack Necker

- Why not one of these? The GW is great, both in design and craftsmanship, but I guess the blade is too thick and wide to make it a good cutter for finer tasks; the Mini Canadian is not my style design wise; the Little Creek might be too small (5,5'' OAL) to be a knife that's up for whatever task possible; the Thru Hiker is too big (almost 8'' OAL) and the design is not that great; the Black Jack Necker is 154cm (I wanted something tougher) and the blade shape is not that great

With the information given, is there a knife I haven't heard of that might meet my (weird) expectations?

Thanks guys

Custom. Sounds like you've got fairly specific needs, and the best way to meet those needs is to have a knife made just the way you want it. :)

ED Tac Bowie by Ben T.
The Oal is just 7.25", with with a 3.75" blade of .214" 5160.

Or this. I know it has a choil, but It's tasteful IMO. It's also really classy. Blackjack Halo boot knife

I have a couple of knives from Ben (3 to be exact). great maker, very nice to deal with but also, blade too wide, I EDC'd one of his knives that looks almost exactly like that mini Bowie for a while (they just look so cool), but I kept coming back to the Izula because it is the better cutter (food prep etc.). I'll check out the other two suggested (I guess the Black Jack is not a full tang), thanks guy

Blind Horse Knives mames some in the size range you're looking for. I just ordered one from TRC Knives that I'm hopeful about. He lists them in the custom section. Also JW Knives. He has a couple of his edc's listed in the custom section now. Great knives. If I wasn't so lazy I'd post links for you but, you know, lazy.

Glubse, check out the neck knives by Koyote Knives. There is a link to his knife on BF. I got one with a 2 3/4 inch blade (no choil) of either 15N20 or L6, with a 3 1/2 inch handle of Osage. Tough little knife. John

Koyote Knives looks interesting, I've already checked out Blind Horse Knives. I think I made up my mind and will wait until the Bark River Little Creek comes in 3v. .145 thick 3v, 5,5 OAL, that should be a tough little guy. Thanks guys

Esav thanks for the tip on the professional soldier! That is the first neck knife I've seen that I like.

I was on the same search a while ago. I have a izula , bk14 , rodent solution , swampwarden and a few others. I ended up getting a tops mil spie 3 after reading mistwalkers review. It's a great knife. The only thing I didn't like were the thin grips on it. I ended up making a set out of .250 micarta.

How about one of my Mini Thorn Tacticals? Flat ground blade you can actually use and it fit well in the hand. More info and pics on my website...
