Hello,

So here are a couple of pics of the second knife I have made from start to finish. I'm really liking this new hobby

Here are the specs:

Aldo's 1084
I heat treated to what should be 59 hrc. I have no way to test this, but I followed a guide by Kevin Cashen. I used my oven to temper it with an oven thermometer.
Black canvas micarta handle
Stainless pins and copper lanyard hole
1/8" thick, blade is 3 3/4 long, handle is 4" long
I started with a flat grind but ended up convexing it.
I finished the blade with mustard patina. Now I just have to sharpen it with the lansky.

She's not perfect, but much better than my first knife. I'm learning a lot as I go, and this forum is invaluable.

I would value any feedback here. Thanks for looking.

Nice job! Just an FYI, Grizzly industrial sells a 6 pc hardness testing file set for 40 bucks. The 6 files go from RC40 to RC 65 in 5 RC increments. It won't tell you your exact hardness, but gives you a good ballpark. I've sent most of my blades out to be heat treated by Peters, so I know precisely what hardness they are at, and I tested the files on them when they came back and the files were quite accurate.

i am by no means a knife maker to the standards of the fellas on here but this looks great for a second knife.

Thanks everyone.

I think I should have put the lanyard hole further towards the rear of the handle, and towards the bottom.

I will also take more time with my grinds on the next one. The 1x30 grinder is hard enough to handle, so rushing it does not help.
