I would like some critiques on my second knife please.
I decided on a lockback for my second knife. it took three try's but I finally got it.
The first blade I tried to put a nail nick with no success, but just wasn't to my liking.
Heat treated in my homemade two brick forge.
Thinking about an oven already.
I got roughly 55 to 60 on the hardness using files, after tempering.

O-1 tool steel
Black and green Micarta
Blade length 2 1/4"
Closed 3 1/2"
5/32 thick ( I love the beefy blades)
Satin finish

Doing everything with hand tools and drill press.
Would a thumb assist be wrong on this knife?

Looks good ! Looks like there is lots of room to get a grip on the blade without a stud which wouldn't work very well on a lock back. And a nail nick isn't a necessity either.

Cute little knife.

As Frank said, a thumb stud does not work well with a lock back. Just grab the exposed blade in one hand while depressing the lock with the other. It should open easily.

Because the lock slot on the blade is so proud of the frame ( last photo), I would slightly round the corner. As it is it will catch/tear on your pockets and may scratch/scrape your hand in taking it out of your pocket.

Looks great! I would prefer a easy open instead of a nail nick/thumbstud. Looks a bit like a sunfish! Nicely done!

Looks good, folders are my personal bane, I like finishing them, but they drive me nuts. Good job.

If I did that it wouldn't be flush in the open position, with the pivot bar.....
Would this be ok?
Or is my OCD kicking in.

At first I thought you were talking about the actual fish.
Than I googled sunfish knife...
In a way.... Yes it does, the stubby beefy look.
Those sunfish knives are cool and different.

a.g. russel has a production sunfish thats just insane. they are also called elephants toe nail, some more to google!
