This is my semi custom Camillus/Becker Companion BK2. I bought a heat treaded and ground BK2 on Ebay, figuring this would be a great way to get a Camillus /Becker. I decided to use Padauk for the handle slabs and three 3/16" brass pins. I reshaped the back of the handle to give it a slight thumb ramp as well. This knife will be tied to the outside of my backpack to ensure easy access to it when it is needed. So far I have sliced some paper and cardboard, and split this 3" round piece of maple. I think this one is a keeper. Doug

Sweet work doug! That looks really nice and the Padauk suits it well. I've been tempted to get a Companion for a while. Will you be making more of these later on?

Right now I have one to do for Larry917. His is getting Desert Iron Wood handles. That one should be very sweet. The blanks are still out there I saw one the other night for a buy it now price of 40. I got mine a while ago and got it for right around 30, figured that was a good deal. Doug

:cool:Nice Work Doug. I would also call this one a Keeper.

Great work Doug!

As a fellow Padauk enthusiast, can I ask what you use as a finish? I'm partial to Danish oil, but I always like to hear what others are using.

Again, excellent job.

All the best,

- Mike

LOL Doug,

Great work. I did something similar. Bought a BK2 blank and a matching Blackjack leather sheath and added micarta scales I already had - total price $45 :

Like Lazer, I would be interested to know how much to scale this in a dark ironwood with stainless pins

Thanks everyone for the compliments. I did soak it in danish oil over night so it should be well preserved. Lazerboy and brians shoot me an email and I will see what I can do for you guys. sales@dpknives.com. Thanks Doug

Here is the new home for this custom Becker. It is now tied on my new backpack. Doug

Very nice job, Doug.

Here's another picture of a modded Campanion that was posted here some time ago. I don't remember who did it, possibly Ilbruche.

If not, my apologies to the person that did.

Great work, I have a finished one and a blank coming in a trade. Big plans for the blank! A famous convex edge and some nice cocobolo!

Nice Doug! That padauk looks great! It's amazing how fast and drastically it can change color though.

You must've broken a sweat splitting that log too!

That looks great Doug. Nicely done.

I have a Passaround/Give-away on a KaBar Becker BK-2 stock set up getting ready - check it out and get in on it if you want.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Doc thanks for posting that picture that one looks great as well. PB believe it or not it went through that maple pretty good. I have to remember to keep a little more down pressure on the handle and it will make it a little faster. I checked with the person on ebay I got this one from and he is out of them and not sure he can get anymore. I asked him if he gets more to let me know I would like to get a couple more to do. Doug
