Hi all.
After having watched a few threads on here, about the amount of equipment one needs to make blades, i just wanted to show the antithesis.
I`ll admit that i don`t know much about knifemaking, and as such my experiments are just that. Experiments.
Still, i just wanted to show what`s possible in a more primitive setting.

My setup for forging. (Or in this case, heat-treating.)

And, yep. I quench in water, and i use a plastic bucket.
(Usually i use brine, but my dad always pours it out, so i stopped using it.)

The grinding-setup. (With two preforms to make two more of the knife-shape i`m currently making.)

Overview of my tools. (And various other sundry stuff.)

And no, i don`t have a "proper" anvil.

My flywheel-press, some of my dads stuff ontop of my press, and my precious sheet of precious 15n20 steel.
(1/8" inch thick. Really nice stuff.)

And, atlast. A closeup of the newly quenched knife, which is currently spending some cozy-time in the kitchen oven,
at 175C / 350F. (It`s been in there three or so hours now.)

Now then, please be gentle with me. Or not, your call. :p
Just thought ya`ll would like to have a look at how this crazy Norwegian does things. :D
Now i`m gonna go back to my glass of whisky.

I'd say considering what you are working with, the knife looks good so far. Nothing wrong with making do with what you have! Hell, that's how most people get started! Please post more pics as this knife develops. -Matt-

People have made do with much less than you display, in there manufacture of knives, over the last ten thousand years .

You have some pretty modern equipment, apparent, amongst your knife making tools. Not neotribal by any means.

I do applaud your enterprise. Post some pics of your finished work.
