My Shadow ASH-1

Wow, Awesome Rob!!!! The Shadow ASH-1 !! I had to grab one myself! That's TWO of the FIVE accounted for!! :)

IC

Awesome! Andrew -- you got to see this edge . . . It's hair whittling sharp and gorgeous with its mirror edge. I'm a bit overly excited about this mirror polished edge -- I'd never gotten a mirror edge so reflective before haha

20 degrees per side??

Thanks man! It's 19.5 degrees on each side sharpened with 100/200 grit diamond, 400/600 grit diamond, 800/1000 grit diamond, 1200/1600 grit ceramic, 1.4/.6 micron ceramic, 5/3.5 micron balsa wood strop, and 1/.5 micron balsa wood strop. It's performance now should be scary effective. ;)

Man.......I thought I could get some air bleeding edges. I'd be afraid to look at yours in person. Sounds like that will cut at a glance.

Holy Moly...! It is hard to judge just how massive they are until a pic in hand surfaces. Awesome mirror edge. Someday I hope to be that good... Awesome knife. I can't wait to get mine this week (reg Fatty ASH-1).

These are some great looking blades. Nice edge Rob!

That is awesome. It takes patience to do that. Nice job.

Thanks Guys!! Yes -- I must say this thing is beyond what's normally considered sharp enough for me . . . I can't wait to beat on this to see if the mirror polished edge will chop, baton, and carve better --- it should. As for the time it takes to get it done -- if I focus I can do it reasonably quickly. I'm a firm believer that the sharper a knife is -- the longer it takes the edge to no longer be functional -- I have a feeling this edge will last a long while

I used to think that way before a non shaving fat shoulder v-edged mojo went through denim and my flesh right to the shin bone with a low powered glancing blow. :( Function was definitely not in question. :D I learned knocking down the shoulders where the coating meets the edge makes the biggest improvement in chopping/slicing regardless of how pretty it is. ;) That is a very pretty polish job by the way, good work! edit: and your sweet spot for chopping looks nicely thinned. :)

Well said Tim and thanks brother!! Sorry to hear about your jeans -- I'm sure the mechanical injury was not fun either ;) . . . I totally agree knocking the shoulders back makes the most difference. I will say though -- that so far the mirror polished edges I have function much better . . . Maybe it's the reduced friction as the edge cuts/powers through a medium. What I have noticed though is that it takes much longer before the edge needs to be touched up. Cheers brother!
