yes, don't work on them in the shop.

seriously.

Have a clean area with clean oil-free steel dust free tools for working on such things. Wash the knife with solvent and either clean your hands thoroughly or wear clean rubber gloves (or both in case the rubber breaks)

I have 2 tables for my shop drill press, one that is oily and has an X-Y vise on it for metal, and one that is kept cleanand dry for wood since I can't afford 2 good drill presses. I do wood stuff on a clean paper surface clamped to the workbencch top on the clean side of the shop (and if it gets too nasty I put fresh paper up) and the metal side of my shop is for knives, metal fabrication, oily things, car parts etc.

I'd listen to Page on this one...

Looking good. I'll have to swing by and check this one out.

oo and the screws are centered on the handle top to bottom :( should have lined them up on the blue for a more even look

Butch, I know you will get the white white. I know because I can see the effort and attention to detain that goes into you knives/razors. This one looks great Jim

Man Butch, I don't see a da*n thing wrong with that one. It looks great ! What's the problem we're supposed to be seeing ??

Your folders are looking real fine bro

Exactly. Thats a sweet little liner lock. I cant recall ever seeing a double blade one. Nice work.

Whoa!!! Thats beautiful Butch!

The handle isn't doing anything for me but the design is awesome. It's like a big honking moose or muskrat pattern with locking blades. The sheepsfoot and clip point blades are so very sweet together IMHO. M2.....nice. This is one bad ass knife Butch. I'm anxiously waiting to see how this goes.

What are the specs on this?

length closed?
blade lengths?

hey one thing I forgot, looks great!
I mean . . .
since you're obviously quite distraught . . . about the . . . spots . . . that I can barely see on a good monitor . . . oops I mean that are jumping off even the WORST screen and slapping me in the face HARD . . . if you want to throw it out and start over, you can use my trash can (the new clean one I will buy JUST for this community service :D )

seriously though, great looking knife (even though my usual tastes are a little less colorful)
handle woods and light colored materials in as close to "clean room" conditions as you can, and never cross contaminate with metal working tools.

Even though you're a perfectionist (which is cool since you're always working hard and producing greater stuff) I like it. I think the ideas is very cool and the materials and finish are also cool. I'd definitely carry this and show it off. I hope you make more of these as they seem to be very handy and appear to be getting the right kind of attention.

its for a friend of mines boyfriend he too is a marine so the blood strip is needed :D
had not really thought about making a 2nd one nore would i know what to charge for such a PITA;)

closed 4.5 inch
open 11 inch
clip point is 3
and the sheepsfoot is 2.75

Page hit it right on this one. All my finish work is done in my leather room in a totally different building. What a innovative knife design.

Butch, very cool knife!:thumbup: M2 should be one cuttin mutha!

If your dirt is occurring during sanding because of using black wet-or-dry, you might consider either blue-zirconia paper (Supergrit has it) or woodworkers Scotchbright (Woodcraft) that has several grits that are only lightly abrasive and don't leave residue.

In terms of this situation at hand, you might clean it up by disassembling and scrubbing your Mycarta with toothpaste and a toothbrush.

well the buyer was all smiles and now i await to hear from the user that will be gifted the knife
the big eyes and smile made all the extra work for "white handles" worth it
