Hi Guys,

Posted this over on Aussie Blade as well. Havent been making much in the way of knives of late. Been busy with life!

Have been working on a few grinders and also upgrading my shop. I put a Mezzanine level in last year for storage and now I am enclosing under the Mez, to create a dust room. I am planning on having 3 grinders in here (Radius master, 2x72 GIB and Disc all Variable Speed), 2 x Drill presses, lathe and welding bench. Going to have an decent dust extraction system out side the room that will create negative pressure in there and also have suction points at each station.

This will keep all the dust and crap out of my main shop. I hope to update these photos as I go. So far I have completed all the frame work, and today got all the wiring done. Just need to sheet that walls out, fit off the power points and lights and hang the doors (So should be finished this year!!!)

The shop inside the shop is 4m long, 2.4m wide and 2.3m high. 6 x twin gpo's and 3 x twin fluros. Going to be sheeted out with 7mm ply and painted white. Also going to seal the floow and paint it also. The door frame is a double door frame(1640mm wide). I will probably have stuff up against one of the doors. I can then move it if I need to get anything big in and out.

Matt I love seeing stuff like this. Great looking shop! Can't wait to see more pics as it progresses:thumbup:

Thanks Jonny,

There will be more shots as it progresses mate.

David,

The walls are a pinch under 2.4m high. I will be able to touch the ceiling at a stretch but there will be plenty of clearance. If I end up finding a decent mill that wont be living in there unfortunately!

Matt

I'm curious how you make out with the floor painting.

Every concrete floor I've seen sweats and flakes the paint.

Hi Count,

My mate next door runs a Light Vehicle workshop and they have 4 car hoists and 4 mechanics (To give you an idea of the traffic through his shop) and its been sealed and painted and the paint that he put down is still good after 4 years. Makes it easier to clean up oil spills and stuff too! There is a couple of back ground pics of his shop here: http://www.idautomotiveengineering.com/index.html

Finished sheeting up today. Electrical was completed last weekend. Have 6 x double gpos inside and one extra outside. 3 x 36w double fluros in the room and one outside made a huge difference. Going to upgrade the lighting in the rest of my shop now.

Internal size completed is:

3800mm long
2200mm wide
2350mm high

Just got to hang doors, fill gaps/screw holes, paint and fit dust extraction system.

Hi Matt,
I Really like your lighting!!! When I need a Bright spot to look at I have to look at a white cabinet or the light itself.
You have light every where.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Nice job Matt! That room looks smallish and air tight. I hope you've planned for some ventilation and dust/debris removal!

Yep,

Full dust extracation system and the walls are getting painted white!

The plan is for three grinders across the back wall (Horizontal, upright and disc - all VS)
Drill presses down right side and lathe and welding bay down left.

Hopefully extraction system will be good enough to create nearly negative pressure in there and suck all the bad gear out!

Please reply if possible... do you have a problem with condensation build up on the ceiling after a rainy, or humid day?
