This is a attachment of ‘’Byrd CaraCara use in jungle review and some tips’’. Easy to find by clicking http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=496119. I got some very positive and curios questions about my gear. So here are some pics of my ‘shortstay jungle equipment’;)

The trip wasn’t a real hardcore backpacking tour. But contained moving from camp to camp and doing daytrips/short-hikes with a guide and some locals, around that area. The nights I stayed in basic ranch-cabins, five-star hotels till huts made from branches,clay/loam and palmleaves. So to be more clear: it is the kit for my daypack. I also had the luxury the chance it for the needs of that day to keep the load to a minimum.

What or bring extra or change next time...

Show some pictures and/or lists of your stuff you would bring to a short trip to upper South-America. Ratings, reactions, tips and questions are very welcome!!

I will post some pictures of the environment, trip and flora/fauna in some time.

I would eliminate a couple knives and take another light and compass, xtra lighter and matches. I think you'll have water, if not lighten up some more. :-)
Good luck with your trip.

That Petzl Tikka realy is convenient but I get your point for bringing a backup.

fire and knifes: I carried two lighters, a magnesium fire starter, a small SAK and my CaraCara.
I left my 2D Maglite, OHT and Mora at home, its more what I would carry next time. Also that Tramontina 10inch bush-machete was more used as a toy than a needed-tool.

Sounds like you had a fun time. Where did you go? [country]

I spent one week with a guide in the Amazon in Peru, traveling by boat to huts and villages. It was only him and my self. He worked me to death, nature hikes morning, noon, and night. :D

After 2 days I graciously gave him my 8 inch knife as a gift and kept my 3 inch Timberline. Except for a compass, 2 small lights and canteen, I didn't have anything else except clothes and poncho in my small pack.;)
