This is pretty close to all of them. I have 2 more that I couldnt find. I also have 2 of there pole saws. The Hayauchi and Hayate.

From top to bottom:
Zorin 370 (the fastest and most aggressive handsaw known to man my fav)
Ibuki 390 ( a lrg and aggresive curved saw for lrg branches)
Sugoi 420 (my lrg climbing saw)
Sugoi 360 ( a smaller version)
BigBoy 2000 (a new one)
BigBoy 360 Extra lrg teeth (big bad folder)
Gomboy 300 Pro Sentei (my favorite all around, most used, has lrg teeth in back and fine teeth up front)
Oyakata 270 (stays in truck toolbox)
Pocketboys 170s and 130s Lrg and Fine (my pack saws)

Let me know if you have any questions on any of them.

What would you recommend for a hiker/camper who likes to keep the gear to the basics? I carry a CS Trail Hawk Tomahawk already and have been using that to harvest limbs for fire or shelter and it works great as a hammer too. It gets a lot of use.

Would it be worth it to add a folding Silky to the gear bag? I'm trying to reduce weight. I haven't found a real need for one on the trail yet, but maybe that's just because I didn't have one.

I think one would be a great addition to my ATV for clearing trails though. Maybe a 24" version would work for that. Which model would you recommend for someone who doesn't have the burden of carrying it?

Very nice collection. What size teeth would you recommend on a pocketboy 130/170 for general use-- if it'll be used for cutting both dead and live wood?

TFin04: For a hiker/camper I would recommend a Pocketboy of either length like the ones on the bottom. Yes it would be very worth it to add to a gear bag. All of my packs have one. They will come in very handy and you will notice yourself reaching for one all the time. As far as an ATV saw Id either go with a BigBoy for folder and Zubat for fixed.

k-spar: I would recommend lrg teeth for general use.

Okay last question...

Who is a good retailer to buy a pocketboy and bigboy from? I don't mind paying a little more for good service. Who carries these things?

Thanks!

I'm also curious on where to get one of these? I like the smaller folding ones.

Have you used one of semi-frozen or frozen wood before?

wow.. awesome collection nate.... i need to pick one of those saw's up.... they look great....

Norcalblacktail,

Thanks for sharing, great collection you have. Thanks for the advice too, i will pick the pocketboy 170 large teeth for my hike gear.

Been looking at the silkystore site for a while, and wonder how do you know if you need large teeth, XL, etc.?

Do you prefer impulse hardened teeth or no?

I asked this in another thread, but, which one would you pick to replace a bow saw?

Damn. Thats pretty sweet. I got that bigger pocketboy, and can't believe the quality!

Very nice! I think I "need" 2 of these. :D One for general purpose around the property ( store in 4 wheeler to have for trails too) and one for hiking. I think the Zorin and a pocket boy for starters. Can you please tell me good place to purchase online? Thanks!

Great collection norcalblacktail:thumbup: I broke down and just received my Pocketboys (one of each size). Very stout saws and I only had a few smaller branches out back to test them out on, but I figure these would be a great addition to anybodies pack. Great folding saws!

Can I join the club?

Naked: Here are a few sites to choose from. The SilkyStore has them all. If you search around you can usually find them a little cheaper.
http://www.silkystore.com/
http://www.camping-gear-outlet.com/camping-equipment-201.html

Ben Meadows is having a sale right now too. They dont have all of them but some and the prices are super low.

Quiet Mike: Id say for general use the Lrg teeth are perfect. If you are going to be cutting large green branches all the time the XL would be good. The smaller teeth are for smaller branches where getting the saw started with lrg teeth is more difficult. Sometimes the branches or tree/bush isnt strong enough and starts moving when you try and cut. I use the small alot on fruit trees and other fine pruning jobs. Dont underestimate the small teeth. They still rip.

As far as impulse hardening goes...The saw blade will stay sharper longer but cant be sharpened if I remember correctly. I have both types and like both. When you are on the Silky Store website they have symbols telling you what each blades characteristics are.

Heres a link to what they mean --> http://www.silkystore.com/Secure/content/cb.asp?cbid=25

I would replace a bow saw with a BigBoy with either LRG or XL teeth.

Dave Costin: The links above you can purchase from. The Silky Store is a great starting place as they have it organized with categories you can choose from on the left. Search around there are so many to choose from. The new Natanoko looks cool. After you find what you want search around the Web and see if you can find it cheaper.

Daniel Koster: Anytime

Bladeforums bites again...I have a large tooth BigBoy on the way to use as an ATV saw.
