This knife was custom made by Alan Davis and its AMAZING! Claude Scott made the sheath and just look at it. INCREDIBLE! This is the most beautiful, meaningful item I have and was made by the most talented craftsmen! AND!!!!! It was gifted to me by someone I've never met other than here!!!!!
Story:
Back in March I lost my 41 year old sister. She left behind three children and its been a tough road for everyone. During this time Striderco befriended me and we would talk several times a week (E-mails).. He has lived through similar losses and it was nice to talk to someone who knew what I was going through. Well he had the greatest idea! A commemorative knife in her honor! While talking back and forth about the funeral, the kids, dealing with my parents and just general life. We talked about what would be "HER" perfect knife..

Striderco sent me this last week and I'm still in SHOCK!! He coordinated the entire project but quite a few people donated towards it. He would not accept a penny from me or the wife!! (and she tried)..THIS IS PROOF!! There are still great people in the world! I would like to thank Alan Davis, Claude Scott, Rusty Music, Striderco, the Lord and everyone else who donated. This knife and sheath will be cherished forever! And again its the most meaningful gift I've ever received. Thankyou.

Drummer so glad you got the knife!! The postal service sent it on a small journey out of the way before finally getting to its destination!! Like Cellerdrummer said but I also would like to thank Alan Davis and Claude Scott for actually making the project but most of all thank you to all the people that helped make this happen! If you were a part of this project please leave a comment! I think it ll really wow Drummer what a great thoughtful community we have here!! I took a bunch of pics before sending it to Drummer so I will be posting them over the next few days or so!

Here are some specs that Alan included! Man what a nice knife! Would be perfect for hiking or camping! Its like the perfect size! And it just sinks in your hand! So comfy!!

Hey Drummer I am so glad you received the knife and you like it! So sorry about your sister. My prayers are with you and the family! Also I would like to add a huge thanks to everyone who made this happen, the knife looks great!
God Bless
Rusty

Drummer Sorry for your loss. Glad you like it . It's good to know that you will have this knife& sheath with you on lifes gourney. Good Luck
Claude

Claude I bet you meant to say journey and not gourney!? Yeah Drummer I hope you make this a user!! Thats what it was designed and built for. It would've been all polished and pretty had you wanted something to look at! But its yours now so do what you wish. Where are our friends that chipped in to help make this happen?! I think Im gonna have Alan make me a knife like this one! Maybe with some stag handles though? The knife just felt so good in the hand!

Claude what you lack in typing skillz you more than make up for it in sheath making!! :D

Striderco..
Sorry to say no,not yet.. For several days she visited with all our immediate family, comments like.. While! That's Beautiful! Amazing! I'm so happy for you! and probably a couple more I'm forgetting were said...Also a teary-eyed mother...Then she went into a Fort Knox fire-proof safe...BUT!!!!! We have our first trip planned!!!

Hopefully in two weeks we'll be kayak/camping along the Clarion River!! The trip is only 11 miles but that's the way my small gang likes to do things.. Sort of "low impact" I guess you could say.. I'll start a new thread with pictures...Thanks again everyone,, and you Striderco..

CellerDrummer, if you ever need the knife sharpened, just send it to me and i'll sharpen it up for you free of charge.

CellerDrummer, I wish you and your family strength to get through the tough times. That is a beautiful knife and a great way to remember your Sis. Striderco is a stand up guy!

I wish this post would get more exposure bc there are people that donated that still prob havent seen the finished product! And the maker himself not sure if hes see the thread! We should do more projects like this or do a fundraiser for Wounded Warriors or another cause!? Ideas??

i would love to teach some wounded warriors how to make knives for other soldiers to carry. i have an idea for a couple of jigs that a soldier with 1 hand/arm could use to make a knife. i just need to get them made and test them out.

WOW!! Thanks RJ..Your wounded warrior project sounds great as well!! And yes flatblackcapo,, Striderco is a stand up guy..I'm hoping he takes me up on a kayaking trip someday..CD

Hello, sorry for you loss, i must comment that i have not gone through that, and it is a beautiful piece. i was wondering about the making of the sheath. it has much more charachter than anthing ive seen and its also seemingly shiny and was wondering if there were any share-able techniques i could try sometime? thanks for your time
