My sisters commemorative knife (pics)

CellerDrummer, I would like to wish you and your family my deepest sympathy. When Striderco(who is a heck of a guy and tops in my books) contacted me in March about doing this I was a little reluctant as I was facing a family crisis myself. My wife of 25 years and mother of our two children was just diagnosed with cancer. Facing the upcoming obstacles in my own life made it very emotional to build a knife in memory of another's family member. Accepting the task almost seemed to provide some sense of calming in my own daily struggles over the last several months. I would like to thank Striderco for allowing me to assist in this project as it became much more personal to me than I ever could of imagined.

God bless,
Alan

Alan.
Thank you..
My prayers go out to your wife, you and the kids.. A close friend of mine fought that disease and won seven years ago. There's hope!

Karens knife and sheath have received responses from my family that I can't believe!! My godmother seen Karens knife for the first time on Saturday. I first read Stridercos personal sympathy card. Then I handed her the sheathed knife and her eyes LIT UP! I was standing next to her so I carefully unsheathed the knife.. As I was showing it to her I explained that this is a custom hand made knife.. Your Karen Lee Commemorative chart was on her table as I explained all this. Then I said look, he lives in Texas..

ALL OF A SUDDEN, she said!! I'm getting goose bumps and cold chills up my back!! This is beautiful and gave me a big teary-eyed hug.. I'm most definitely sure all the strong reactions, responses and emotions are spiritually connected. I wish I would have filmed everything from the beginning so you guys could have witnessed it.. Trying to describe what happened in words, isn't even close..

Alan, thank you again and my prayers are with your family..

I just thought I was doing a cool knife project for CD I never imagined all of this! And Alan, man I am so sorry!! I didn't know of your personal matter when I asked you to be the honorary maker for this project! But it seems like this is all working out well for everyone involved! Alan you need anything say the word! Im sure there are more than a few friends on here that would be willing to help you out!!

The outfitters will be hauling us up river Saturday morning.. Were only doing 11 miles total and camping out Saturday night.. Fresh camera batteries are on my list..
