My small but growing collection --- MAGNUM AK!!!

You done good brother, you done good! That one is even the envy of already AK Magnum owners. A beast!

I believe this is Yangdu pulling it out of the sheath. Bookie snapping a pic off to the right.

I think a lot about this little knife she let me hold too. It felt really good in hand and I hope to get one for myself. She said the may make some in the future. I wouldn't mind getting one from Viet Nam I think she said it was, can't remember at the moment..

Holy hmong! Put that thing down Aunti! That thiing is as big as her leg:D Watch your toes Aunti! That is an awesome pic:thumbup:

Hmong, that's it. That sweet knife I'm holding. Thanks for the reminder.

I think if that knife was 1 or 2"'s longer she wouldn't have been able to clear the sheath. It was a close thing as it were.

64 ounces :-o
That's 8 more than my extra heavy training long sword. Though being shorter and thus having a better leverage it might still be possible to use the Magnum with one hand, kind of.
Seriously, what a fun blade!

This one is actually 72 Oz, and I think I could use it one handed, have to wait to next weekend to try it out when I am at the lake. (I don't want to take out any garden gnomes by mistake in my yard)

That Magnum AK is one beautiful monster!

...rocks?...bring me back a rock.... I dont have one from Nepal yet ...

A cool rock to get from Nepal can be seen in this photo beside the tourist khukuris stacked up on this souvenir stand in Kathmandu:

Note the black rocks at the far right, one with a prominent crack clearly visible. It's a pretty ordinary looking rock until you separate the two halves and find an ammonite fossil on each face. One half has a protruding ammonite, and the other half has the mirror image as an impression in the rock where the protruding face fits perfectly. Two fossils for the price of one!

There's a certain river (Kali Gandaki) in Nepal where these "Shaligram" stones are found. It must be a cottage industry there to collect likely rocks and split them open in hopes of finding an occasional Shaligram.

Maybe Auntie Yangdu could find enough interest in these rocks to start selling them here?

I'd buy one of those. I suspect that the rocks crack from the seasonal expansion and contraction of water that was originally trapped along with the now fossilized ammonite.

Wow!! Thanks Steve! Thats some cool ammonites! Im not sure of the species from Nepal but they do look similar to some found here in Texas (oxytropidoceras). My friend just got back from Morocco and brought me back some fossils from there. Ironically after my post. If you were to put Africa back where it used to be then it is really amazing how the fossils there are much the same as they are in central Texas as they should be. Pretty dang self explanatory if you ask me. I do know my fossils here. There are so many reasons id love to visit Nepal! I am known to buy one way tickets and not come back so that is something to consider before I visit:D Ill Look into those fossils. Very cool!
