Brothers and Sisters,

I have always admired the rich history of CRK--perusing the "CRK Timeline" sticky is always a treat. Now, I own a nice little piece of some of that heritage in the form of a small P Sebenza I picked up off the Exchange the other day (Thanks Dinokay!"). This one is definitely a user and has her fair share of scratches and love marks, but is very mechanically sound and in great overall condition. There are so many wonderful little differences to spot between a P, Reg, and 21. A few of the unique features I like on this small P are:

Mirror polished blade
Early style thumbstud with 4 notches
No Clip
2 small washers (vs one small and one large on the later models)

However, the most interesting aspect of this particular Seb is the initials that were engraved by the original owner: SAB. It just so happens that the first and third letters are MY initials as well (2 out of 3 ain't bad!).

Anyway--here are some pictures for you to enjoy. . .

Saw it on the exchange and was this close to getting it, but got discouraged because of the initials, Im glad it worked out for you

Nice small P sebenza. I had one that I always referred to my small p-less sebenza because it was the one following the P series with the clip and no P markings. I sold it long ago, but it was a nice. Its cool to have owned many of the CRK's, especially the mighty sebenza and see it evolve. I have had them all except the H.

Congrats on a great score...!

Glad you are enjoying the CRK Timeline. I have to update it with the info I got from Anne Reeve about the two special large regulars I have: the mosaic damascus and gold coin. Nice to have something they made so very few of....!

Nice score, the initials scared me off too but it worked well for you! I really like the notched thumb studs, they have nice character. It is great to be able to set several generations beside each other and see the gradual changes that have been am over the years. Nice piece of CRK history:thumbup:

I had to tie myself to the chair to keep from buying this, considered changing my name to match the engraving!! Nice score!! Dino is a great guy to deal with!!

Folks--thanks for all the responses. It is fun knowing there are others out there that appreciate the history as well. . .

Please feel free to post pics of your CRK historical pieces!

That was actually mine before it went to DInokay. He asked about it when I posted it on ebay. I recognized his name and eventually he bought it. My one regret other than selling it was that I posted it as never being sharpened. Not long after he bought it he posted a tutorial thread on how to tell if a blade's been sharpened. Boy did I feel bad. Showed me how little I know about sharpened blades. He didn't blast me for it and I'm thankful for that. That P has such a great opening/shutting sound. I was surprised when I saw the two small washers and the fact that this particular P had signs of at least one if not two other ball bearing holes. Maybe botched attempts or fixes. Not sure. But it's a great old one.

Loon#r... It's fun to hear the further history of this one. It is now residing safely in Italy with another fine BF member...

After spending some time in Italy with a friend, this P Seb has decided to make its way back home to me. . .
As an homage to Mr. Reeve I have taken a few pictures using a handmade scrimshaw warthog tusk from South Africa. . .

You're making me miss it. Love the P model. It's rugged and looks great aged. Do you have any plan to upgrade the blade - hasn't CRK done that or do they only clean up the older style blades?

Agreed--I love the aged look and it has certainly earned it after all these years!

As far as a blade replacement goes--I don't believe they have any P blades in stock. I inquired about having them engrave a design over the initials, but they said they don't even have the jigs anymore that fit this model.

Besides, I would never want to detract from the history of the blade by replacing it! The hand filed thumb stud is just too cool to mess with!

Having only been enjoying the Sebenza for a couple years now, can I ask a dumb question? What does the "p" indicate?

Only thing I could come up with is "pocket" as it isn't equipped with a pocket clip. But that just doesn't seem to be correct.

And there seem to be both small and large p's.

Age doesn't seem to factor as I was looking on the bay and seen a large P listing with a 2014 birthday.

Thought it was kinda expensive though. But then again I dunno what the deal is. :)

Thanks!
