Or a big ball peen hammer....

Doc
Back in military school a kid threw a rock through our window. It was fairly obvious who it was, and so later when we were in his room and he wasn't there, we took his suitcase to his masterlock. Broke the suitcase but also opened the lock.

In Salt Lake?

Nope. I opted out of the position. It was/is a great job, but logistics won't work. Triggs would have to quit her job (six figures) to come down with me. She loves her career and it would not make sense for her to stop working. Kinda bummed, but it is what it is.

Damn right it is! today started with bacon, eggs cooked in bacon grease, and toast to soak it all up! Now at just after 10am I'm debating cracking a beer to wash the saltyness down!

What are you waiting for? You need to stay hydrated!;)

New snark thread and I'm in on three. Cool. Today was a rough one for me. I went and worked at my buddies shop for 8 hrs today workin my ass off, in the meantime, been on the phone with a bunch of blast from the past buddies regarding my friend that passed. We bury him tomorrow. Gonna be a terrible funeral. So, the only good news for the day, when I got home I just wanted to be left alone and do my own thing. I decided to come out to the shop, lock the door, crack a beer, crank the Social Distortion and work on my brassback bowie. Sometimes I think when a mind is in dispair is the best time to do work. It was therapy tonight. Gonna be a hard day tomorrow.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you this morning Todd! Losing life long friends (even ones with that you've had problems with) is rough.

I was feeling a little down yesterday and needed some shop therapy myself. Its not as beautiful as that bowie you are making but I decided to try my hand on a little modification on a old kitchen knife of my mother in-law's. It was an old carving knife she was about to throw out. It had a cheep plastic handle that got destroyed by the dishwasher, a blade that was chipped and duller then a butter knife, and the tip was broken off.

not perfect but not bad for a first. Still need to finish it a little more. Any suggestions for how to seal the wooden handles? or just oil them?

The only thing cheaper in Canada then the U.S.A. I can get Russian's for $189

Edit: then I crossed the boarder for the tapco stock and did a few mods myself.

Yeah, I can't really get into it without getting political but our government made it tricky to import all kinds of stuff, which inflates the price.

I realized that with shipping, sales tax, and a $10 fee out state charges to do a back ground check the SKS would cost something like $365. I'm not sure if I want to get one anymore or not.

Gonna be a good day today.

Good to hear. I'm going to hit some golf balls for the first time in forever, get in a two-mile run, and maybe work in a short hike somewhere.

Gus, I'm sorry to hear it won't work out. However, I'm one of those people who thinks things work out for a reason. Who knows what door will open up next?

Thats all the motivation I need. Keith's incoming!

Always happy to be an enabler!

Thanks G. That's the attitude we're also taking. Things always happen for a reason.

I'd still do it for that price. With a little bit of TLC this rifle is amazing. I polished the internals, added a recoil buffer, removed the bayonet, and added a muzzle break. I spent quite a bit of time on the trigger and have it almost like a two stage. The first few mm's of pull is smooth then it stops right at the point where if I put any more pressure it fires.

I've put a good 20k+ rounds through it over the 5 years that I've owned it. Spent the first 3 days after buying it up at my brothers place going through a crate of ammo cutting a tree with a 12 diameter down by just shooting it. Since he is a mechanic by trade he also had a boatload of scrap metal up at his place so we did penetration tests with the steel cored ammo. I've heard some stories about people needing to adjust the sites but mine came perfect out of the box. I was shooting spent shotgun shells at 100 yards with the irons off a bench.

Great gun... love that free floating firing pin too. Yay for a bit of bump-firing! I have a video of me somewhere bump-firing into a snowman and shredding it to pieces.

I have a while pile of firewood to move from one side of the yard to the other. Wheelbarrow will make it easier - but there's a 4-foot fence between point A and point B. I think a nap is in order before I tackle this herculean task...

+1 to napping! Kids are down and while I could spend this time getting caught up on housework or maybe even a project or two in the garage...I think Sunday afternoons demand naps.
